40g SPS

What do you keep Cal, Alk, and Mg at? What mode and power are you running your MP10s?

Awesome tank BTW!

Thanks!

I keep my alk at 7.8-8.2, Ca is usually 420-440, and Mg is around 1400-1450. I have my mp10 @ 50% reef crest and my wp10 is on w1 s2/3

VERY nice coral shots.

Thanks man. I have been contemplating getting a ATI 6x24'' powermodule and going back to T5s for awhile. Not that I am unhappy with my Radion, but that I need more PAR for my acros on the edges of the tank than the single Radion can provide. I don't want to buy another radion so it seems like a better option. Not sure though. I may not do anything lol.

I ended up getting an ATI 6x24'' sunpower for Black Friday. I wanted to see if/what differences T5s could do for my corals that my LEDs couldn't. I was getting what I considered to be great results with my LEDs, so this is an experiment to see what happens and IF something was missing from my light that the Radion g3 couldn't provide. I'm holding onto my Radion just in case I don't like the results I get and I want to go back.

Bulb combo is:
-Back-
Blue+
Coral+
Actnic
Blue+
Coral+
Blue+
-Front-
I have an extra coral+ if I decide this combo is too blue for my tastes. I don't like the pink hues that the purple+ or fiji pink bulbs provide.

Here are some pics. I have to work on my picture taking skills with the new light. It is a little bit bluer in the pics than IRL.

Your tank looks great, time will tell if led is better for you or not.

Thanks man. I am very interested in the results. I have always wondered if my corals were "lacking" something with the Radion. I will give it a good 6 months before I decide if T5s are better for me right now or if I will stay with LEDs. I may end up gutting the middle two reflectors and putting my Radion components in the ATI fixture. Who knows?

I Matt,
I started 2 months ago a 1200 liter tank. 150x130x65cm and I have 4 radion G3 pro over it. I keep them 35cm above water surface.
PAR reading is superb everywhere in the tank using all channel 100%.

I also measured PAR delivered from single colors in a point where PAR is about 300.
Red 10
Green 15
White 100
Blue 50
Royal blue 100
UV 20

I don't know how much light deliver G1 radion, but I'm sure G3 pro deliver a lot of light.
A friend with 12x80w T5 ATI fixture on a tank 155x70x55cm has comparable values.

I can't say the light is good and the spectrum is the best, I'll see that in the future. PAR are surely enough.

Tank looks as nice as before with the LED's. From the FTS it looks like there is less shadowing as well. This thread just got a bit more interesting :D

There is a little bit less shadowing and more spread from this fixture. I found that you really can only grow light demanding SPS in about an 18'' circle around the fixture. Anything outside that really doesn't color up as well as it could.

Yeah, I was getting good PAR from my g1. I upgraded my gen1 to a gen3 in February. The added violet and the better LEDs helped out with SPS color a lot. I only ran the gen3 @ 50% intensity at the 20k presetting.

I am interested to see what happens with the T5s. It may turn out that I am not missing anything/not able to give my corals anything more expect time to color up and grow.

I know the effectiveness of ATI fixture. I have a 10x54w powermodule and I verified many times PAR beneath that. I also took measure under 2 6x80 powermodule fixture.
I think ATI T5 fixtures are the most efficient available.
Before that I had a Sfiligoi 12x54w and it delivered 35% less PAR, using the same tubes.

Replaced my SRO 1000 INT with an AquaMaxx ConeS C-01 today. I heard good things and I was looking to get a skimmer with a smaller footprint so I decided to give it a try.

What is your current 10 bulb configuration? I just acquired a 10bulb ATI fixture and curious as to what people have in them. Can you post a FTS of your tank so I can see what your colors look like?

Tank is looking fantastic. Surprised you went to T5s as it looks like from your photos your corals were awesome with LEDs. Not necessarily a bad move though, I'm sure you'll see just as good if not better results!

Not a bad call at all. On my 120 before I tore it down I went from the SRO 2000 INT to the C02, and I found it more reliable, easier to adjust, and less temperamental. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Thanks. Things are coming back around. I had some tissue necrosis on some acro branches from stinging, but no mass die offs due to tank params, though the params are a little off when I got back. I have things dialed back in now. I should see things returning to normal in the next month I hope.

Not really a lot of room to add anything anymore, but I want to get another acro or two. I actually have had to move a lot of stuff around because of the growth. My hawkins has been moved twice because of the red planet's growth, so not I moved it to it's own on on the other side of the tank. The red planet is getting huge. I'll take some pics in the next week or so before my wedding to show the rearrangement of the corals.

Ya I can see you running out of room next time I am in your hood ill take some of your hands to make some room lol..maybe its time for an upgrade we love seeing upgrade build threads you know. ..let us know how that new skimmer works out

Thanks. I was getting good results with the LED but I wanted to see if I could do more for the tank. Halides were not an option right now so the T5s it was.

I really liked the SRO 1000 INT in my 60g cube. It skimmed really well, but it was a little temperamental to set up and dial in. In this smaller tank I have a different sump than I had before and I tried for the better part of a year to get it to skim properly. I think the biggest issue is that I could not get the skimmer pump to sit flat on the skimmer stand because of the size of the skimmer compartment in my tank and the length of the pump. It wouldn't fit lengthwise so I had to run the pump at an angle. I think this effected performance.

I'm looking forward to seeing what this skimmer can do. It has great reviews.
