415 custom in-wall

It's the same size. I'll let Vince explain his choice. I'd imagine it's because the damn thing should be nearly bulletproof.

Really sad to see how this whole thing turned.

I don't think it wouldbe wise to try to use those pannels for another tank as some are warped.Wonder howwhy a pannel so thick would warp like this unless there was force to have it fit on that non square bottom pannel. in that case it is really easy to undestand why the seams did not bond as the pannle was pushing out while weldon was acting. I'm amazed it lasted 8 months before that. One thing the constructor should have replied clearly to is his opinion on the non square bottom pannel and why would it occur and what effect does he think it will have on a tank after some time or especially during construction?
another thing that is really interesting is how/why did he come up with the 50% off on a replacement tank and then back off from it? by agreing to that it is clear he knew deep down inside that it was (at least partly his mistake and not only the stand)
also by only offering 50% he is clearly not considering all the trouble the owner went through with the immediate evacuation of his livestock, damages due to massive amount of salt water leaking, risk of elecrical shock caused by this water and mixed electricity around the tank, time and energy of the owner to relocate livestock to another tank, then back to the replacement tank.... there is a lot more than the price of the tank in here and it's a shame how it was handled.
I patly agree to the part where some said that it was best if this was not shared on a forum however reading the posts none of those was slander just updates on the tank. stil i would have posted all info with such handling.
Looking forward to see the new tank full and just to be on the safe side why don't yuo order a stand from the same company this time and get them to come instal the tank on the stand to make sure you have a full warranty.

I'm far from being an expert carpenter, but I couldn't find anythign wrong with the stand. Vince had a 36" straight edge and I checked the stand my self and only found a maximum difference of 1/16" between any high and low spots. And the distance between any two high spots was only about 10". I'm going back with an 8' straight edge some time later and check again, but I didn't see anything wrong with it. Certainly nothing that a layer of foam couldn't compensate for. I'm wondering if the 1/8" gap that was measured wasn't from the tank being warped and not the stand.

IMO the 50% discount was retracted due to the manufacturer felling that he was being slandered online. I've read reviews of electronic devices that people straight out bad mouthed the maker and after reading the reviews the maker would do what ever it took to make it up. So that the mud slinging would stop and to save their reputation. But maybe that's a totally different ball park and doesn't apply to tank manufacturers.

Nope, it applies whether the tank manufacturer thinks so or not. I was in a LFS yesterday and overheard two people talking about just this issue. A third person walked up and seemed interested so they were happy to fill him in as well. The consensus of all people standing there talking was in no way would they buy a tank from this manufacturer. That was a conversation that I overheard and I never even engaged in it. Word gets around, hence the best advertisement is word of mouth. It can make you or break you.

Trying to keep my livestock alive and well in different containers has become very stressful. My lawyers have advised me not to do anything to the stand like placing a new tank on it.Because of this I had to cancel the order for a new tank. I have decided to get out of the hobby for a while to concentrate on seeking a resolution to this issue through arbitration or the courts. All of my livestock and equipment is for sale. Hopefully when the issue is resolved I can set up a reef tank again. thanks to everyone who have been very supportive.

I couldn't see you losing this case, so hopefully this just gives you more money for your future builds. Im sorry to hear your selling everything. This is why these court cases become a real pita sometimes. This is where they pay for compensation to you having to sell everything and so forth. Really irritates me that things like this happen. Don't laugh to much when you win this case.

I'll be sure to check on this thread and bump it to the top often.

You had a truly amazing tank and I hope you continue in this hobby.

I will resist posting my opinion on this situation.

Good luck to you.

Man..... This is horrible. Sorry to hear/read about this happening to you. I wish there were something that I could do to help you out. Hope things are resolved sooner than later. Definitely an eye opener for me too.

I was upset for you throughout the entirety of this thread. Now I'm just plain angry over this entire situation.

I know who's not making my next tank.

**Edit - I was neutral about who's at fault until I saw the pictures on the last page. I've never seen anything like that in my life.

be sure to log time wasted and keep reciepts for everything you sell since its probably going to be at a loss (write down if you lose anything too). HA, and your friends that came over are gonna need a beer (or three).

I requested a quote from a tank manufacturer and he emailed Sean wanting to know what happened to my tank. This is Sean's reply to his email.

Rich,

How do you offer to help? This whole problem with vince is just ridiculous. The stand that tank was sitting on might as well have been held together with duct tape. We tried to help vince out as much as possible, but we obviously wouldnt warranty a tank sitting on a stand without any support under it and now hes just made a hobby out of trying to slam us. Ive also gotten about 5 differnet stories from him about what happened, so im done with him. Its ok the **** storm will soon pass and people will move on.

Legally we have solid ground we stand on, and it helps me sleep at night knowing I did what was right and eithical. Unfortnatley, some people simpy want hand outs and there will be no hand outs from us.

If you build a new tank for him, make sure you install it with your own stand as his garage is very very unlevel.

I am inviting everyone in the forum to my house to see if my stand was put together with duct tape.
