Powder coated stainless steel you really don't want that frame to corrode do you

Well, I'm trying to plan for the long haul. I'd really like this to still be going 20-30 years from now. Now, whether _I'll_ still be going is another question. :)

Oh, and by the way, I would send those black cabinets back as it looks like they got damaged in transit.

I know, right? But we're so close to moving in now that we might just have to live with them. :)

klondike4001--Thanks, Jonathan! What would you do differently? I like hearing about people's dream tanks. :)

I took the kiddo over to give her a bath this evening in the "fun" tub and noticed that the metal guys had snuck over sometime today and installed the under frame for the access panels. Very nice! I really like the steel frames. It allows so much more room inside the stand.

A few new photos up: http://www.ummfish.com/remodel.html

I really need to turn all those around so the newest are at the top.

But, I did want to present this one. This gives you an idea of how the viewing panels of the aquarium will be framed. The lower panels will be covering a couple of inches of the sandbed and the water line at the top will also be covered. The bullnose gives some depth to the viewing pane and acts as a frame. BTW, the steel does not touch the glass at any point. That'll allow for some bowing of the glass (it better not bow, though) and will allow me to work with the access panels with no fear of the vibrations in the steel being transferred to the glass.

Truthfully, after having watched this crew and the way they use painters' tape, I wish I'd bought stock in 3M ten years ago.

Andy,
What is the angled O.S.B. with the framing around it?
I've got to say I'm up in the air on the blue in the dining room. Maybe I will understand it better in person when it's furnished.

I'm sorry. I may just be tired but I don't understand your question. Can you re-phrase for me please?

Well, you know, it's just color. It looks good with the furniture and the stuff we're going to hang on the wall. But the kitchen turned green today.... :)

Probably envious of the blue walls in the living room.

I've been following along for a bit now, possibly due to my boredom in the office. It's look really nice, and I can't wait to see it fully setup!

Forget the tank, I'd be happy to have a shower like that in my house!

Hi darkcirca!

I've been following along for a bit now, possibly due to my boredom in the office.

That's good to know--get people bored enough and even I start to seem interesting. :) I'd invite you over for a shower but that's ... umm ... a little weird. Nice to see you!

The only bummer about the shower is that the lovely bride won't let me put fish in it. "We have to have _some_ containers of water with no fish in them." Isn't that what toilets are for? She said that about the fountain outside, too.

Happy holidays, y'all! I'll be back to put up some new photos in the next day or so, but then we get kicked out of the house while the floor guys finish the downstairs! Woohoo!

That's too bad, especially about the fountain. I'd definitely have fish in there.

It's been an interesting read. I generally venture in, skim, and then never look back, but your thread keeps drawing me back. I must have spent a good amount of time (2+ hours possibly) reading everything. Glad my work doesn't seem to notice!

Oh, I think there'll probably be fish in there eventually. We have to look out though: We have a very active raccoon population and they're good fishers. I have to do more research on it, though. I don't want to stock a bunch of fish and not have a plan for overwintering.

I am glad that you're enjoying it. I guess I didn't really pay attention to how long this silly thing's gotten. Apparently, I'm kind of long-winded.... :)
