45G Shallow Rimless Peninsula Aquacultured SPS Reef

I just read through your old thread again, that undata... wow. A tank totally worth of TOTM and just didn't have time to win. Looking forward to updates, pictures of the frags, etc. :)

Sorry for the lack of updates, was a busy summer and going to be a busy fall with the addition of another family member pending. That said, I'm going to do a better job of updates once the weather turns and more time is spent inside! :) Currently, the tank is plugging along but I'm really struggling to dial in the tank parameters on such a small water volume. I'm still planning on adding a vat, tank, container, etc. to increase the water volume and ideally get my parameters more stable. I have a few SPS frags in there still that are doing well, others not so much. I had a flame that was a definite coral nipper and he has been removed, much to the relief of a few frags that were definitely getting picked on. Otherwise, I'm making sure things are stabilized before adding anything else. That said, I'll get some pics up shortly of where things are at.

This project came out awesome. You had some really good ideas there. Looks great! Looking forward to more pics.

Long overdue update!!

Long overdue update!!

Time for a long overdue update. I've made progress with the tank:

- Finished side trim and top grating, which is all detachable through shelf brackets and adhesive to allow me access to the overflow area if needed for adjustments and maintenance

- Removed my RW4s. They were ok on one half of the tank, but the water stalled at the far side of the peninsula. I added a Maxspect Gyre 130, so far this thing is amazing, the flow is perfect for my tank. :bounce3: Have it at setting 5 and even at that setting the flow is incredible.

- Removed my sand bed and replaced with travertine tile. Over the long term, this will be easier for maintenance. Had a temporary nutrient spike (0.02 on the Hanna for phosphates), but everything is looking good.

- Did some more trim on the stand, added venting, mounted controllers, etc.

- Added 165W Chinese LED fixture to my refuge, which will become my frag area.

- I did a bunch of other stuff, can't remember it all, onto the pictures.

It's so nice to see an update. One of the coolest builds that I've seen. Your acros are looking really vibrant and healthy. Great work all around

Very nice looking tank, great progress. It will be gorgeous when all corals grow out. The colors are already so rich!

Nice update, everything is looking good. You still take some of the best macro shots on this forum, nicely done.
