50 Cube SPS Zeo Reef

No, Dom, that's the stuff. The version I have is 1 drop per 250g.. So, that's what you got.. I was using a drop a day in my system but the cyano enjoyed it a lot more than my corals, I think. With my nutrient levels, I'm not adding any aminos.
It is excellent for lower nutrient systems..
It contains no aspartic acid.. But has a very comprehensive list of aminos..
You could maybe mix it with RO water to dilute it..
Ah! Okay then :) If I were going to dose it, still need to chat to my lfs about it, I might go and buy a super duper accurate syringe and work it out that way, or as you said mix it with RO :)
I think it would work well in the cube as the nutrients are low and the tank dose respond really well to that extra oomph going in, food or aminos! I really need to start feeding more frozen though. I only feed it once a week :worried2:

That's an amazing tank. What are you dosing and what's your regimen.
Thank you for the compliment! :)
Dosing is Ca, Mg and Alk so just the basics but I'm slowly getting back on the CaRx train again so that may get fired up lol
In terms of other dosing in my ZEO system:
2 drops of bak 3 times a week
3 drops of sponge power three times a week
0.4ml start daily, dosed in two parts morning and night
10ml of acropower a week, broken into 5ml twice a week

And that's all the dosing I'm doing, I was doing some other ZEOvit dosing but I wasn't happy with the results from them so I cut it all out and went back to simple stuff (for zeo lol)
I do a 10% water change weekly with red sea blue bucket salt :)

You're getting a lot a bang for your buck as far as dosing goes. Fairly
basic with excellent results :).

Yep, I like to tinker lots but I've always found that the basics tend to win out! :) Given the size of the tank I get GREAT bang for buck! A 250ml bottle of start lasts me an entire year hahaha Thanks for the compliment

I am going on my 3rd month on zeovit. I dose sponge power everyday. Should I cut back. My tank is awful right now. brown everywhere and I am losing coral. my Ca,alk,mg are in line. Any ideal what might be going on.

Are you diggin the new gieseman bulbs? I'm really liking the color of the Actinic Blue over my ATI blue plus, they provide a much more deep color and match much better to my 20k radium. Did you see the thread about the par dropoff after 100hrs though, that seems to be the downfall of this par. Hopefully it's just a isolated incident.

I've been told that dosing works better when it's more at longer intervals for sponge power, so rather than do the daily dose I just the same amount of drops weekly but in three larger doses rather than seven smaller ones. Does that make sense?
I'll search out your thread and have a read :) Maybe we can sort some stuff out and see if we can get your tank thriving!

Digging is an understatement!! I love the colours they're giving and I do not regret the switch at all! However 2 pure actinics make the light a little too purple for my liking so I'm swapping to 1 pure actinic, 1 lagoon blue and 2 actinic plus bulbs! I love the way they look with the Radium on but then again I ADORE the Radium haha
Fingers crossed it's an isolated incident, I'll keep an eye out but I would think they'll be fine as my lfs uses them on his acro tank and that's amazing!

Well congrats dom...if that was your goal...you succeeded...i hate you too:p:p
Such beautiful colors and healthy corals!
Especially that SSC felt like a dagger threw my heart, you heartless aussie:p

Welldone bud,tank looks awesome!
Won't say anything,regarding the zoas,this time:)

hahaha you're not doing it right if someone doesn't hate you for it :lolspin: thanks for the compliments Mike  the SSC is gorgeous, I'm absolutely in love with it!

I understand that and will try it starting today. Thanks for all your help.
No problems :) I've replied on your thread as well

I need some arguing to occur! lol time for a worm can :lolspin:

CaRx or dosing? While I have enjoy dosing three part the last however many years and my acro's do as well I just feel that I don't get the growth that I should be, colours are sorted, but I just feel that there isn't enough growth. I have a BIG *** reactor that suits up to like 2000L or something ridiculous and nearly all the parts aside from a decent regulator setup and a peristaltic pump but I'm wondering if it's worth jumping in and getting it all going or persisting with 3-part? Personally I feel I'd be little better off and well managed with a CaRx but I dunno, I guess I want to hear people's thoughts and see some arguing :deadhorse1:

There was a reef guru around here who stated that a cr would take your tank in such an upper level that it would fly mate:p
So if that's the case you should definitely bite the bullet bud!

Joking aside it's up to you.
Since you already have the reactor, peristaltic, etc you won't have to spend money and time.
I'm a believer of the saying "if it's not broken why fix it" you know but trying/changing things in our tanks keeps us motivated,so why not do it bud.

Can't see a downside.
Both methods are good enough and each one has it's advantages and disadvantages.
I'm sure you already know them.
I say go for it:p
....i'm sure that's what you wanted to hear lol
That little push that we all need as a final push to take a decision...
I need that push to put sand back again in the tank lol lol lol...can't lol enough

^^ what the Greek Creepy Reef God said.. :)
I have always used ca reactors... Always. Never had a fail.. (Knock on wood) I've had a regulator stop or issues with regulating water flow.. But dosers present the same issues..
Size of tank may be the deciding factor. Large tanks are cheaper to run with reactors, long term because the media is cheaper. With a smaller tank, you aren't burning through as much liquid product...
Tough decision.. Clearly either works perfectly.

By the way, Dom, I was speaking to the owner of Polyplab.. He's an old business partner and current supplier of mine. He said that diluting the colors in RO water is perfectly fine.

Both work really well and they've both been proven over the many years, I just need a good push to do it haha it's not because I don't like 3-part but a CaRx is something I've always wanted to give a go and even though it may not be as practical on my system as it's only small, I think I'd work a little better with one. Thanks for the push guys, I think I just need to get off my bum and get a regulator and solenoid to run this bad boy.

Awesome! Thanks for that, I appreciate you asking that for me Matt :)

WWBD? Why ask anyone else?

Marty
Rangy, So sorry I killed your thread. FYI,WWBD = What Would Biggles Do. I really don't know what he will say. But it might help if your calcium reactor was NASA approved.

Marty
hahaha Marty you didn't kill it and I did get the WWBD too :lolspin: I've been away so I haven't had a chance to reply till now!

I would give the calcium reactor to my mate biggles, that's what biggles would do Marty - with a full tank of CO2........ :)
Along with my wrasse and firetruck too  I'm just curious about how'd the tank would change and especially so if I'm going to continue planning on adding a frag tank :) Just need to find a source a decent regulator and solenoid lol might annoy Dave for that!

Well as some of you may know I've been on holidays since boxing day and got back on Sunday night. I was a little nervous when I got home about what I was returning too! But luckily all was good in the reef :) A few of the acro's are rather pale and there's some minor bleaching on a couple of pieces but nothing worrying that some love and food can't fix! There was plenty of algae though :( The ****ing caulerpa nummularia had gone nuts! I HATE THAT **** SOOO MUCH!!!!!!! lol

Yesterday was a good old water change day and tomorrow is as well, algae removal, parameter balancing (haven't tested yet either lol), nutrient removing everything effort to get the tank pumping again! I'm going to try one of the lagoon blue Giesemann tubes as well instead of two pure actinics and I'm putting the new Radium bulb in too, in the next week or two lol

Either way, here's what I returned too :( Luckily it's only on the zoa rocks, even though it's hurting them it's not all over the tank!

Looking a little better now, hopefully better again after tomorrow and at the end of the week I'm starting the algaefix dosing again! Going to nuke this **** out of oblivion lol
