50 Cube SPS Zeo Reef

Lots of changes. Going to be very jealous of your MH/T5 unit with Radium. Damn Biggles and his highly coloured acros with Radiums...every few days I get crazy ideas in my head about a Radium setup over my tank...look forward to seeing pics of all your new toys. :)

Yeah, just a couple to be made! I'm reasonably excited about getting some *** kicking acro growing light blasting monsters! I'm very interested to see what the almighty Radium will bring me haha
I'll be sure to take plenty! Including some serious acro pics for some comparison after a month of new toys ;)

I'm loving all the changes you will be making! I toy with the idea of going back to MH, radiums in particular, all the time. The results they give are undeniable. I think the best growth and color I was able to achieve was under those bulbs with t5 supplements

Thanks mate, I'm really looking forward to doing a bit of a revamp of the system and hopefully go the next level up with growth and colour! I'm most intrigued to see how my zoa collection will react to the change as the lights I have are specifically designed for them. Hopefully I can get a bit of growth and colour like you're getting! You're tank is bloody sensational!!

Yeah well i bloody did mate, i was 5 mins away from deleting you off the iphone..........

:fun5: thanks Ryan for getting me in trouble :debi: I dislike the Radions anyway so I'd never get them, only two weeks till Radium blast off! :celeb2:

Why dont you like radions?

Don't get me wrong, they're fantastic lights and some stunning results are achieved with them :) I just personally don't like them, simply just not a fan really. Part of the reason is they get misused a lot here (Down Under) so they tend to bring leds down overall here so being a fan of LED's I tend to give them the stink eye :hmm3:

How does one "misuse" a Radion?

Not trying to be a smart @$$, now I'm really curious!

I am sure Ecotech designed the Radion to mimic Radium bulbs...:fun5:
Haha, pity they'll never quite make it to Radium status :hammer:

It's not specifically Radions that are the cause but they fall into the category most often due to popularity. It's more generally LED's as a light option, far too many people don't understand how LED's work over a reef tank. So what usually happens is someone buys one Radion to light a 120g and then complains that nothing grows or they have a 5g nano with a Radion at 100% and complain that everything fries and then go on and spread lies about LED's being shite and they're the worse thing to happen to the hobby.

There's always lots of misunderstanding about lots of things in this hobby but it's the led thing that gets me the most lol other than that radions have been having some issues here like the ATI hybrids so that always brings them down in my book, at least Ecotech are easy to deal with compared to ATI who have completely stopped working with Australia and any warranty claims!

lol sorry for my typo haha.
Haha I can forgive you this time
Tank going alright aside from the cyano??

Led works you just have to use more fixture to cover the whole tank and not to have shadows and coverage is even. But if you're spotlighting with leds of course you will fry them. I know for a fact when i added another fixture to the 2 i already have it made a big difference. But all in all I still think having a combo lighting gives best results for color and growth.

You can't mimic the magical blue dragon breath emitted by a Radium bulb mate............ :smokin:
I'm looking forward to some magical blue dragon breath to blast my acro's and get some amazing results :beachbum:

This ^^ this is exactly my thoughts on leds and lighting :) I couldn't agree with you more mate!

Check out the last acro pic i posted to see what your new lighting will produce........that's one of the pieces i bought that day we met up at Deer Park aquarium btw for $25- :smokin:

Just so you know for future reference mate, if we agree to meet at a LFS at a certain time it's pretty much guaranteed that i'll be there thirty mins earlier........
