50 Cube SPS Zeo Reef

Hope it will do the job for you mate with this kind of algea:beer:
Used it some months ago and it really helped me with hair algea.
Don't like chems too but things had gone really bad.
After the 6th dose the damn algea started looking white.I pulled a lot manually and until the 8th dose tank was crystal clear. No loses too:thumbsup:

Had maybe 15-20 bubble algea balloons:p and they disappeared too.
Maybe it will help you with that also.I'm really interested to see what happens in your case cause i've heard the same thing from other guys, but they had a small amount of them.

Ouch, that's some nasty stuff :sad2: Have you tried a Tuxedo urchin? They can be rather effective on that sort of thing.

Dom, I'll be watching with interest. I have that same damn algea growing wild in my frag tank.. It doesn't seem to grow in the main display. Probably because of the 5 tangs..
I added a rabbitfish to the frag tank to see if he eats it.
We can't get it in Canada, it's banned.. Actually maybe only Quebec, not sure .. Anyways if it works for you, I may have to procure a bottle or two through shady connections!
Good luck!

I think you should have given me the firetruck for safe keeping whilst you play mad scientist with the tank............... you know i'd give it back.......:uhoh2:

Good luck with the algaecide. I've use that in the past in a smaller tank and was not too impressed, but it didn't kill anything. :)

No negative effects yet, everyone is still going strong and looking amazing! I'm hoping that after a good amount of dosing that I'll get some nice clean rocks again for the first time in a couple of years haha my fingers are crossed so hard they've fused together haha I'll be attacking the bubbles with manual removal and some boiling RO so I'm hoping between all of that they'll weaken and I'll win the war!

Yeah, not much fun haha doesn't hurt the colours though which makes me happy-ish. Haven't tried any urchins, it's too thick for them still. Once everything (hopefully) thins out I'll be upping my CUC a little to keep it controlled!

I'll be documenting fairly closely and keeping written tabs too so that everyone can see and I can follow it along with progression pics so I can see exactly what is happening and where too :)

Don't worry I've got your piece on the rack being irradiated and experimented on to turn it into a Super Acro, with 1,000x the colour of a normal man :wildone:

Well so far, two doses in everything is going solid, hell even better! But I'm not seeing any die-off yet (obviously haha) but as long as it doesn't kill any of my pretties I'll be happy, fingers crossed it takes out the algae though lol

What container did you use to house your corals with? i am about to move, and i wont be able to tranfer to my new tank for 1-2 months.. thanks in advance!

I just went to my local hardware store and bought a big tough 120L black tub to hold them in. Skimmer, heater and lights were in there too :) worked really well but my sure your top off is on it haha

Mate- when I moved it was evaporation that caused salinity to rise in the temporary set up- RTN very quickly!!!
Just a heads up. Moving is not easy.

Good luck with your algae Dom, algae like that can be such a burden when it starts to suffocate your corals. I'm having some issues with bryopsis so I'm about to raise my Mg with Kent Tech M. With my luck I'll have the variety that's unaffected.

Agree with this x100, you really need to be keeping on top of the evap on temp housing!

Thanks Josh :) fingers crossed in your bryopsis battle too! That **** is the worst!!

Will RTN or STN occur in low salinity as well? (1.023)
I wouldn't classify 1.023 as low salinity, really. I'd call it the low end of just fine..
What he said lol

How's the algae battle going Dom ?
Getting there :) so good hopefully, just about to post the update now!

Well it's been about a week and three/four doses of Algaefix at 5ml and I have to say, while touching as much wood as I can find, that it appears to be working and I also have some bubble algae beginning to show signs of weakness and decline so I'm hoping that it means that it will work on those *******s haha
We've gone from this:

To this:

So I guess you could say there's some improvement occurring :) I've still got a another week or three of upped dosage before I will probably see some really good results but we're getting there and I've had nothing die or look worse for wear so, touching wood again, I'm hoping the trends continue! This is the bane of my existence though, caulerpa ****ing nummularia!

This stuff is tough so I'm hoping with some persistence the magic can be worked on it too.

Well onto something a little more positive now :) It's been quite a substantial period of time since I've gotten myself any new zoa's and well I decided to end that with a bang! Placed an order with Exotic Aquaculture Australia after their most recent release and holy **** I am once again blown away by the quality of the zoa's that I got Wednesday this week :D knocked a few goodies of my list too! This ordered contained Sakura Sunrise's, Flaming Sun's, Blue Agave's, Devil's Stare and a single True Blue Hornet polyp too :D
Just a few hours after landing this is what the new babies were looking like! (Sunny D looking mighty fine too lol)

Sakura's, holy moly gaucamole these things have nearly gone to my favourite of all time! Can't beat Aus Rainbows though ;)

Flaming Sun's on the left (yes they are that bright in person!) and Blue Agave on the left, it's hard to get the colours to show properly but they're a simply stunning zoa!

After taking my top down's they got placed on my special rack with all my favourite bits and frags :)

(Aus rainbows are middle on the left side)

All in all things seem to be improving every day. Fingers crossed for the continuation of this trend! lol

Dom,
I meant to ask, did you have any concerns with alagefix running zeo system? Also, did your tank start from zeovit, or was it a conversion. Reason I ask, is that I had 2 tanks run zeovit, one from the start, and one conversion. I had a hell of a time with bubble, cyano, and hair algae, all while testing 0.00 on NO3 and PO4. I think it has to do with laden nutrients bound within the rock and sand. I could never break the algae, despite my corals glowing. I ultimately took the rock out and killed it with muriatic acid, bleach, then a RODI soak. Just curious mate, I hope you break the algae, be careful with any products other than the lineup, use with caution. Hope all is well:)

Nice looking additions! Hopefully that algae is for sure on its way out the door, you don't need it suffocating your new zoas!!

I'm not usually much of a zoa guy but for those flaming suns I would make an exception! Those are nice... Great now something else I gotta go look for. Glad the algae seems to be receding. Good luck with the rest of treatment.

I like the results so far on the algea fix..
I guess if I used it, I'd have to remove my cheato temporarily..
And like Mike, I love those red and orange zoas!! They are awesome.
Nice new additions!
