Great choice.

Good luck in following Rich's shoes. That guy has some serious lens talent.

105 macro lens. This is the first time I have been able to shoot without a flash. These are all at 800 ISO. Even the ones at 1600 ISO were not bad.

Shooting fish with the 105 is very difficult, That camera must kick butt. I am still waiting to get my new flash since I am still shooting the mere D90.

Now lets see the jocs :D

when a very experienced reefer saw my copperband that had the white spots on the tail like yours she was sure it was Ich. the fish at that time had been with me for about 1.5 years, over two years later and the fish is still with me and the spots are still with the fish.

nice photos. that is really good with the macro lens and no flash. steady hand.

Hey Sanjay,, I just recently got into the reef hobby a year ago and was keeping few soft corals and LPS. Just 3 months ago I got into SPS and 2 weeks ago Acropora. I have been keeping saltwater fish for 10 years so have the patients needed to succeed with the reef aquarium.. Only I hate to learn from trial and error so i signed up for reef central just recently. From reading the threats Im assuing you take care of the aquarium in Penn state.? I am just outside of Pen state in clearfield Pa. and plan on coming to see the aquarium. I am planning on setting up a 150 gallon very soon. I have 760 watts on my 55 gallon and bought it knowing I want to upgrade tank size.. My major concern i have is calcium reactors,, I am reading reading reading about them but would love to have someone explain to me the do's and don't,, and around here there is no one who has a clue. I will post pictures of my corals fish and equipment very soon.

another reason why i am hesitant to set up a larger aquarium is Iam always moving from one place to another and would hate to move a large aquarium.. I also am unsure about circulation and all. My water parameters for the past year have been very stable but my equipment wasnt the best. I have a mag drive 500gph return pump. koralia 2 pump on the left glass 1'' below surface. i have another 500gph odyssea pump on the right glass (half way-pointing slidely above acropora and spiny cup pec.)-on a timer on off randomly. and i have another power head behind the live rock pointing up against the glass towards my overflow box. Could you offer me any suggestions>? I have probably about 30X turnover but if its not in the perfect spot its kinda useless. I think i finally understand the flow and placement thing. But the cost of pumps and wavebox are very high. If i add anything to this aquarium it has to be something i need for a larger aquarium. For instance, i am trying to find a used vortech 40 pump. they seem to have the best feed back. Another thing I reallY lack skills in is coral placement =/. Everyone in my business and customers say i am very good at the aquarium thing and i tell them "fish iam a pro" "corals I still have alot to learn but well on my way" Like i said i'll post pictures so any suggestions will be appreciated. thanks

Ashih,

Since you are in Clearfield, PA not far from Penn State, stop by and see the tanks. Dependng on when you come, I could meet you there, and show you around.

There are a lot of ways to keep reefs and be successful. Other than a few basics you don't really NEED anything more. Its all about management of water quality in a manner that you are comfortable with, and understanding the husbandry of the animals you keep.
