50g SPS Cube

Here's a couple quick shots of the RR Flaming Orchid, I wasn't crazy about it when I first got my frag about 8 months ago, it stayed solid red for a long time, but the yellow body and pink coralite edges are starting to develop and I am really liking it now

Howdy

I've had a thread for this tank in my local forum but its boring so I decided to start one here. I've been reefkeeping for 16 years, SPS for about 6 now. Had its ups and downs but has been really enjoyable on the whole. Almost everything I have learned has been from all the great threads on this site so thanks everyone! I began this tank February of last year and knock on wood, everything has been going great thus far.

Tank Specs 24"x24" Cad Lights w/Cad lights stand
Lighting- Ecotech Marine Radion gen1 with TIR lenses
Skimmer- Cad lights cone
Calcium Reactor- Aquamaxx mini
Flow- Tunze 6095x2
Tunze top off w/ kalk reactor

Rock structure is a DIY using Carib sea dry base rock and Marco reef cement, I seeded it with bacteria for a few weeks, scraped some coraline from another tank and let it go to town. Its been great so far not having to deal with aptasia, pests, or any other unwelcome surprises

I'll start with a couple current FTS and then post some progression and equipment shots

jrpdriver,

Absolutely beautiful! Great job!!! Would you please explain and or show more about your rocks, I'd love to know how to do something similar. Normally I brake up rocks and epoxy them together but I like what you have done better.

Thank you, unfortunately I didn't take any pictures while I was constructing the rock structure, I wish I would have. I just bought a box of dry reef rock from Marine Depot, I believe it was Caribsea brand, I propped up the different ledges using pvc pipes and then I applied a generous amount of MARCO argonite cement to all the joints, I do have these two pictures of just the rock

The cyano is finally under control, I swapped out to a bigger skimmer and gravel vac'd weekly and it went away after a few weeks, my old skimmer was just undersized and wasnt pulling enough out. Here are a few new pics

Well, this video looked much, much better on my iPhone, I uploaded it using photobucket...it looks like it reduced the file resolution ot reduce the file size but I have seen many videos on RC that are much longer and in high resolution, anybody know how to accomplish this? Thanks

Here's a couple new shots, I trimmed back a couple that were starting to sting each other, and I added a small Yellow Tang and a couple Chromis. Everything else is same ole same ole.
