50g SPS Cube

Love this tank, really an inspiration for my next tank! I love how there is no zoa, just sps, well done sir, I have a few questions if you don't mind:

Do you run GFO, carbon or any source of carbon dosing (what was in that reactor on the first page)?

Do you care to comment on what you feed and if so how often (fish/coral)?

And finally what camera do you use?
Thanks!

Thank you very much. No GFO or Carbon or Carbon Dosing. I run a Calcium Reactor and a small Kalk Reactor. I do have an extra reactor plumbed in with my return line for emergencies in case I need to add carbon, but it stays empty, haven't needed it yet. I feed mysis/brine cubes daily and every once in awhile I throw in some Rod's Reef.

oops, missed your last question"¦..There are some photos a couple pages back that Greg Carroll took with his camera, but everything else, including the batch I just posted were taken with an iPhone 5s

Thanks man, how do you get such good pictures with your iphone? I have the same 5s and radion over my tank and my pictures always look terrible.

no problem. I turn off all the pumps to get rid of the shimmer, for the top downs and close ups I use a photo box and just lay my phone on the bottom of the photo box….I actually just started using the photobox though

You have some very beautiful healthy corals and with leds. I know corals grow and color under leds as you and many others have done. My corals have always done will under mh lighting and I'm older but like trying new things also:bum: Maybe I will join the led nation soon and put 2 radion pros over my circle .

Sorry for the lack of updates. I set up a new tank at my house and it's been getting most of my attention. I took a lot of colonies and frags from this tank to start the new home tank off. I also decided to reaquascape and change the substrate out. During all of this I stirred up a lot of junk and a lot of my corals browned out. They just recently started coloring back up again so I will take some current pictures.

Been there done that, its the sucky part of having a sand bed. Glad to hear you are turning it around. Would be interesting to see you success with a BB system.. Questions for you, what par are you getting at the water surface? Also are you running a wide angle len?

Brad

I don't think I'll ever run a BB, I keep wrasse for pest control, plus I just love the look of sand beds. I get about 1200 at the surface and 600-800 at the top shelf of coral, 250-400 around the lower areas. I am running the standard TIR lenses on the Radion and the Kessil's are unmodified

Now that is a lot of light LOL. Its awesome to hear this! Look forward to your pic update and glad you got things under control.

Best,
Brad

Updated pics please. Miss seeing them on the local forum

OK, so here is an update but its not much to look at. As I mentioned I started a new tank at home, so I took a lot of coral out of this one to help fill up the new one. I've been neglecting this tank ever since I set the new one up so I have some cyano and my coral don't have the color they used too. But I guess all the updates can't all be winners so here we go. My new tank is starting to get on cruise control so I plan on focusing attention back on this one and get it back on track

I was cutting off some frags of my SWOR and noticed you can see a lot more of the different color when the polyps aren't out. It still doesn't have all that blue that you see online, but it is looking pretty nice

especially compared to what it looked like when I got it lol

Wow, you've got the largest and probably the most colourful SWOTR I've come across!

Thanks!...normally, when the polyps are extended, it look predominantly pink but I ****ed it off fragging it and thats when I noticed how much color it actually has, guess I need to keep it ****ed off now!
