541G build

hey 20v turbo, I had the same thing happen to my dart. I called up reeflo and they made right by it! In fact after the sent out and I repalaced the new valute (housing on end of pump) the pump had a leak in the drain. They paid to have the pump sent back and fixed and sent back. Give them a call, they stand behind their stuff! I know it doesn't make things go any faster but hopefully that helps.

On the other hand I have been using reeflo pumps for years and never experienced any of this on any of them (many of them too!)

yeah they can. I think you might have to pay for that though not sure...?? If you call first thing monday morning though they should get it out right then and should get to you by mid/end of week depending where you are.

set up my 450 last weekend 2 of the 5 dart pumps that I got split on the return side right where the casting line was had my brother at The living art aquairum call them they said they do not rec. using thread tape they want you to use a silcone adhesive on the threads for the male adapers but the good part of this is the pump housing are only 20 or so bucks and they have them in stock at sequence hope this helps and the tank is looking good so far

Not my intent to thread-jack but I have to ask......You say 2 bulkheads? Can I ask what types? I have acquired all sch80 [more price] but I feel they are worth it.

20vturbo Is that a old or new pump that malfunctioned?

I'm not sure on the brand ... they are white almost a Nylon kind of material .. rather heavy duty (OR NOT!) ... reverse thread nut ... serious washer ... nice bulkheads ... when they don't split.

I changed 1 of them to the sch80 spears, and have the other spears on order. the other one is going BYEBYE too. sick & tired of this. The store where i got 'em from had 2 of theirs split too in the last few weeks.

not mean to hijack your thread either, but I just noticed your in ft. myers, I am going to marco island next week. one of my favorite places

thats weird b/c I could have sworn the instructions said to use thread tape. Where can I get a silicon adhesive?

lol I was thinking I would try out my new dive gear in it :) and yes I have gone slightly over budget...at least I will have fish to look at when I see the CC bills!

Nice looking build and a killer tank.

I've not read whether your enclosing the stand? Accordingly, I'm wondering how your going to deal with the heat from the chiller and pumps.
Secondly, I noticed a LOT of splash from your returns in the sump. Looks like that might be an issue.

I am probably going to enclose the stand later, after it has been running for a while. The back will be open and a box fan will probably help get the air flowing through the sump area.

the splash is just because I haven't finished the piping into the sump. that was just a test run. It looks like it might be a bit since I have to wait for new parts for the darts...more plumbing :(

hahaha! give it a day or 2 ... should be crystal clear! and that is a pretty deep sand bed! :thumbsup:
just how many lbs of sand did you dump in? was it wet(live), or dry bags?

I lost count while taking them up the ladder and into the tank...I got 1200lbs and I think I have about 4 or 5 50lb bags left. It was dry and I mixed a small amount of LS from my other tanks.

yeah its an old skimmer I had and am just running until it clears up...I dropped the o-ring for it in the cloudy tank...its gone until it clears up...the tank still doesn't look any clearer today :(

ok so how long before its safe for fish.

I used about half new water, half old water from both the 210 and the 400.

LR all came out of the 210 or 400.

mostly new pulverized limestone sand seeded with a little bit of LS from the 210.

current conditions.

Ammonia = 0 ppm
Nitrite = 0 ppm
Nitrate = 15-20ppm
