550 gallons deep display from Lebanon

Finally something to post about... Long time coming and received the package that should seriously start this stank... AT LAST!!!!

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/54478441@N03/8000447406/" title="IMG-20120918-00098 by Aqua-Boutique, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8303/8000447406_b7fb0dd718.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG-20120918-00098"></a>

This is my new skimmer!! and added a UV I had postponed from the last order due to shipping restrictions.

The Skimmer is a Deltec TC 4080 external. Obligate shot next to a can for size reference!

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/54478441@N03/8000392392/" title="IMG_0304 by Aqua-Boutique, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8461/8000392392_c86d5fd013.jpg" width="480" height="320" alt="IMG_0304"></a>

I know this skimmer is overrated for my tank, but I intend to keep large fish and I do feed a lot, up to 7-8 times per day.

The skimmer is rated for 8,000 - 10,000 Liters heavy stocking which is almost 3 times the system volume.
I also ordered the Self Cleaning Head which should help with maintenance and lets me sleep better when I am traveling.

Along with the Skimmer came the UV. Its a 75 watts hw Wiegandt from Germany. It is rated for 4000 liters and will be run at 2,000 ltr/hr for maximum efficiency. I really wanted to try a UV sterilizer on my tank. That is something that has been advised by different ppl in Tokyo. And upon checking many Japanese tanks, I have noticed most of them use UV.
The concept should work perfectly with what I am trying to achieve.

I had no idea it would be that tall!! my shoes are size 12...

Ok then onto the plumbing.

Back in January I had bought 2 1" Sea-Swirls from Ed at Sea Swirl. He was very helpful, and helped me choose the correct item. He also managed to ship the product very fast in order to be sent with a friend coming from the US. Kudos to Ed here!

The second person to thank here is Maroun! He helped me with the plumbing, or should I say, he did the plumbing!!! It should be importank to note here that I am clueless when it comes to plumbing and without Maroun's help I would've been ******.... He basically checked the parts needed, took the measurements, installed the plumbing, and I offered him lunch! I did help a bit here and there....

Here goes with some photos

First the Sea Swirls

Right

Left

And both

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/54478441@N03/8000380932/" title="IMG_0307 by Aqua-Boutique, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8453/8000380932_3cd177b465.jpg" width="480" height="320" alt="IMG_0307"></a>

The overflow drains into the sump

And the return teed into the two Sea Swirls from a Tunze Master Electronic rated at 2,190 gals.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/54478441@N03/8000380780/" title="IMG_0309 by Aqua-Boutique, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8030/8000380780_01edf04d3e.jpg" width="320" height="480" alt="IMG_0309"></a>

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/54478441@N03/8000379393/" title="IMG_0310 by Aqua-Boutique, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8309/8000379393_9ac500aaf5.jpg" width="320" height="480" alt="IMG_0310"></a>

More to come on the plumbing on a later stage, mainly the skimmer and the manifold for 2 Vertex UF-20 (Carbon & GFO) and the UV sterilizer.

Was a fun day and quite pleased with the results we got.
Now time to tidy up those electrical cables away from my plumbing :lmao:

Thx again Maroun!

Great to see things moving along. Congrats!

Thank you.

You must be a happy man!!!!:spin3:

Very very happy indeed! Things should be moving faster now. Already stated planning for additions!

looks great bro any pics or vids of that monster skimmer in action?

Will do. I need to update this thread. I will over the weekend. You should see it in person! Get your own silver monster around!!!!

Nice built.... tagging along.

Thanks lebreef for giving great idea.

thx syedjilani!! I have been following your build too. Maroun helped me plumb them in. I think they do a great job, and would really recommend them!

Ok, first video of the tank. This is also the first time I do videos with this cam. So please excuse the quality. Do try to watch it in 1080, it should be much better. It took me almost 2 hours to complete!!!

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/W4V5YcjkEQA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Second video will show the filtration setup...

Nice, awaiting the fishroom video. :deadhorse:

Will do, I had no idea it would be so hard to shoot films with this cam!!!

Nice angles.... Just want to know are they reef safe?

Thx Syed! Not really reef safe, SPS safe is another issue altogether, It will be an angel and butterfly dominated tank. I will not be adding any potential nippers anytime soon. I will wait until the corals are growing well to add some. I will also try a few softies. I will not have any LPS or Zoanthids in this system. They will just become an expensive meal!!!

This is going to be awesome when stocked!!!!!Waiting for the engine room video!

Thx Crazy Beaver! I can't wait either! The only problem here is sourcong the animals. First I will try with adding a shoal of Z. leptacanthus to the one I currently have.
Will be doing the back-room video as soon as I have some time on hand. The last one, as crappy as it may look, took me more than 2 hrs to make!!
