57 Illuminata SPS Dominate

I am in the process of settings up a SPS dominate tank. I am looking for opinions on how everyone would use this wonderful platform to make as beautiful a tank as possible. The only thing I am really considering on as far as the set up is using a RFUG as PaulB uses. Everything else is up to suggestion.

Here is how I like to set up

2-3 inches of sand
real live rock from the ocean - porous
metal halide
calcium reactor
good skimmer
several heaters on ranco controller
patience

no gfo or organic carbon

This is not dis-similar from what I'm setting up. Strong lighting, strong skimming, healthy load for the tank size, and aim for stability. I'm a 2-part guy though. Hear you on the GFO and carbon - not mandatory, but keep some on standby if needed.

OK, but that is not the way you can set up a tank with a RUGF. The lighting, skimming and circulation is fine and GFO or carbon is a personal decision, I use neither one.
