58 RR in wall underway

Some updated pics for anyone who is interested. Having a baby takes up sooooooooooo much time. Almost ready to start priming, then paint. I want to have this done before Thanksgiving.

Just a suggestion. I have a 75g in-wall. If you are planning on doing a DSB you may want to build up the drywall to cover the lower portion of the sand bed. I ended doing this afterwards and it would have looked better had it been done that way from the outset.

Hey Matt let me be the first on here to say CONGRATULATIONS!!! We get so wrapped up in your project I think many missed the fact that you are a new dad.....

Project looks good too!!

Well, it's been almost a year since I began my project. It takes alot of time when you are working alone. I will start doing the basebaoards in two weeks when I have some more money to throw at it. Got the trim around the tank done as well as the door casings. Hopefully someday I will get some water in that tank! Having a baby takes up just about every spare minute of the day! ;)

Looks great! I know what you mean about taking time when working alone. I STARTED building a photo studio above my 3 car garage almosy 5 years ago when my first daughter was born. Another girl later (2 yrs old now) and I just finished drywalling today! There was a big lapse in projects though. I finished our basement for the girls (and dad) to play. I put an in-wall 120. Looking forward to your project. I also want to get a 58 to replace my too narrow 55.

Thanx guys, here's a couple more pics. Painted the back of the tank with Krylon Fusion.

Looks great. Did you paint it with the spray kind or the roll on?

Spray kind. "Satin" black

Looks great. How many coats did you do? and did you do any type of surface preparations/cleaning?

I used two coats. The only surface prep I did was with windex, just wiped the back of the tank down. It dried really smooth.

Thought this would be neat. I found some pictures from when we first moved in. What a difference. Also, I never mentioned that the room dimensions are 10x25. The opposite side of the room from teh tank is where the office will be, and the side with the tank will be our second family room/playroom for our son.

I'm so glad the sanding f the compound is done, it was hard to get motivated for that job. Also, I used Baer textured paint for the ceiling, kind of hard to see in the pics. It hides any small imperfections nicely:cool:
