60 Cube Max Stand Height

Hi All -

I am thinking of building a new stand for my 60 cube as the current stand is only 25" tall and is a bit too short for my taste. How high could I conceivably build the stand without making it unstable and too top-heavy? Obviously, I could build a wider stand to get it higher, but I would like to keep the footprint around 24"x24", maybe a couple inches larger if absolutely needed. Thanks!

Is your tank on hard floor or carpet?
That will make a difference, but a 24x24 foot, my guess, and just an educated guess would be around 36ish before it begins to get tippy, and much more so on carpet.
Chicago, at least I don't think you have quakes to worry about like we do.

I have a custom built 24x24x20 (50 gallon) tank with a custom built wood stand that is 40 inches tall. I would not say it is tipsy or unstable in the least, but wouldn't go much higher than that. With a 24" high tank, I would say that a 36"-38" stand would be perfect for both eye level viewing and being able to reach your arm into for any maintenance.

I have a 38 inch stand for my 65g. I'm tall and didn't want to be bending down all the time to look at the tank. On the flip side I have to use a step stool to place things in the tank.
