Been watching 4 last hr or so. I do hope it goes up on the stand kinda like waitin for the next movie sequal.......

Lunch time. We have the 3/4" hardwood ply adhered to the bottom of the tank. Its the DAP stuff.. kind of like liquid nails. We spread it on with a trowel. It will, hopefully, keep the ply stuck to the tank as we move it onto the stand. The ply acts like a cushion, much like foam does with a smaller tank. If we used foam, the 3+ tons of water and the half ton of the tank would crush the foam past its usefulness.

Ok, so some squeezed out the sides. I'm not touching it till it hardens and I can razor it off.

The stand assembled, bolted, in place, and squared up.
IMG_1863

"Humm... How much leveling will be needed?"
IMG_1864

"Nice frame!" This shot gives you some perspective on just how big it is.

looks awesome...and we were complaining about moving my 238g in last weekend! This thing will be amazing, it might even be worth the cost of gas for me to drive out to Lemont and check it out ;)

The Sub Sandwiches arrive. Miztic kicks into high gear.
IMG_1868

"This makes a nice bench!"
IMG_1871

Leveling starts. We have clamped the center posts together straighten the stand out as the floor isn't perfectly flat. We then start to steel shim our way around.
IMG_1872

This is taking longer than I though. One side goes up, the wrong side goes down...
IMG_1873

More shimming. I hate shimming at this point.
IMG_1874

Its finally, mostly, shimmed at this point.

Tank is up on the stand! The ply moved an inch in a few places so now we work on squaring the ply and tank to the stand.
IMG_1876

Gedas looks around at his hard work :)
IMG_1877

Back shot of the tank. Nice overflows! Its hard to get the whole thing in the frame and still maintain perspective of the thing. Its hard to describe.
IMG_1878

Another overflow shot showing the height.
IMG_1879

Length shot. Tank is pretty dusty :P
IMG_1880

Shot of all of us and the Tank. There is one guy missing as I think he was in the bathroom as we took the picture. Oops.

At this point the tank is draped in a large drop cloth as the drywalling starts tomorrow. I'll keep the thread updated as things progress and I start the sump, fuge, quarantine, frag, and other tank build outs.

WOW!

What an amazing effort!

A 600 g 10 foot display is well worth it..

Your wife is a SAINT! Mine would have been looking more like the worried neighbor, not the charming, smiling huggy lady pictured above.

It's going to be an awesome viewing room and display tank!

Congratulations and best of luck!

I love it. I was thinking the same thing about if it were glass. It would be incredibly heavy! To me that stand looks very good. I think i shall follow this build.

My wife has been surprisingly understanding. Its pretty simple really, I get the garage (mostly) and the basement, she and the 3 kids get the rest of the house :)

As far as the thickness, Its 1", including the overflows. Its 120x36x30, with dual 36x6x16 external overflows. Each overflow is drilled for 3x 2" bulkheads, overflows are rated for approximately 3500gph combined, although I don't plan to run them that hard.

Tank is not drilled. I do not plan on running a closed loop system. Being acrylic I can drill it at a late date if I so wish. I will be drilling the top in a few placed to hide tunze cords.

The top has 3 openings, routed and beveled to fit custom made lexan lids. The lids are rated to take direct heat from Metal Halides parked over them. They will not deform, burn, ect. I'm not planing on using them but if I have a jumper, or need them for evaporation issues, they are there :)

My arms are killing me just watching you and the crew. I think I woulda had a heart attack with that much weight coming through the window so high in the basement. I'm amazed you pulled if off. Looking forward to seeing the development. Great work so far!

I need a massage now. My shoulders were up by my ears "watching" the tank go through that window.

Nice house and tank. GREAT wife for putting up with that. Just friggin awesome all around.

Subscribed.

I'll see if I can get some pictures up tonight. The drywall is in, and the first coat of goop on top of the taping is done. Waiting for the whole white mess to dry before the second coat.

Speaking of which I'm researching materials to paint the fishroom with. I want something that is as waterproof as possible. Obviously it has to bond/coat greenboard. The only thing that I can think of (I haven't researched it yet) is Drylock, the stuff you put on concrete block to stop moisture from weeping through it.

Anyone have any suggestions on other products I should look at?

I just read up on fungus proof drywall at lowes. seems interesting to find out if a gimmik or not...will look for link 2 night and pass it on to you if interested read
