With both pendants running I'm seeing water temp rise to 82.6 (or a bit higher) during the day. I'm running the fuge nights at light and thats causing the nightly drop to happen slower. Later on I'll be running the frag lights which would cause the heat load at night to go up another 200% over what its at now.
I lowered the tank temp to 79.5 base. I also set the exhaust fans now to kick on at 82 and turn back off at 81.5.
This is fine during the winter but when summer comes and it gets warmer than 80 i'm going to have a problem.
That made me remember the evaporative cooler that I read about a few years back. I don't have a humidity problem really, just a heat problem.
I'm wondering:
1) If I throw a fan over the fuge and it IS say 90F outside but not 100% humidity, will my tank cool as I evaporate water into 90F fishroom air if I have the vents open and running to flush humid air and bring in drier?
2) I used to have a turf scrubber on my old tank back before skimmers. I saw this thread:
http://forum.marinedepot.com/Topic89570-4-1.aspx and saw how the guy made the turf scrubber vertical. I could possibly make a scrubber in my sump (which has the extra benefit of huge nutrient removal) plus it would act like a massive evaporator if I put a fan on it.
3) I could barely prop open one of the doors above the tank and set the exhaust fan on and turn the intake fan off thus using super cold house air. The problem is then I get air leakage when the fan isn't blowing. Wonder if I could use a small servo to open and close the door?
Hum....
