600 gallon NEW BUILD

I would love to!!
But I tried for a few days and couldn't get them to talk to each other..so I gave up (for now)
I will definitely get hooked up soon.

Well, After 2 hours on the phone with Apex tech, I have all 8 Radions and 5 Vortech pumps connected..but they are not "talking" very clearly ...a little sketchy! I was told that using 2 WXM's is not that common (really??).
If the set-up continues to be problematic, I'll throw the Radions back onto Reeflink and use Apex for everything else.I still consider Apex indispensable but not the end-all.

I run 6 Radions and 4 vortex just fine on one WXM. I don't know why 8 and 5 wouldn't work.

After shredding 2 BTA's on their first night...I will give it one more chance..this time with a cage. Not pretty, but it will work.I have a large 4" clown that I think irritates them with her affection so they go on a walk-about to get away.

Beautiful build. I would love if you could make a video of your fish room if you ever get the chance!

Beautiful build!

Now that you've plumbed it... Did you change the full siphons to 45 or are the still horizontal? After you restart your system, how long does it take to purge the air out of the full siphon?

I'm looking at putting my fish room in the basement so I'll have some horizontal as well.

I have not yet read the whole thread,I did not see any siphon breaks in your return lines,if you have not yet looked into that now might be a good time.Mark Levenson has a great idea for a siphon break a reversed check valve have a look.Nice set up will read through it in the next few days.

looks great.... how is the skmmer performing... what was the cycle like...

I LOVE THE FLOOR DRAIN!

My 60" Lifereef is performing very well, as expected. My bioload is not that heavy yet but I am confident it will handle anything.I used Dr Tim's system (with his ammonia)..took about 2 weeks for the DT tank and one 65 gallon QT. The last 65g QT refused to cycle so I emptied it and filled with my (cycled) DT water. Now the QT tanks are kept "alive" by using the old DT water via Genesis.

Right!...that was a big concern at start-up.I did not change a thing as the system siphons perfectly and re-starts up within 15 seconds. I do however have the occasional "gurgle" from the longest run, but it lasts for maybe 5 minutes then works its way out.(and is not a constant gurgle)
For your installation in the basement I would of course try and avoid horizontal runs but I would definitely not stress over it because;
- gravity (two floors) will purge any trapped air immediately by the waters weight .
- and a temporary gurgle is only heard at the sump, which will be far away in your basement (and is not loud)

Thanks..GOOD SUGGESTION!! I have seen that idea from Mark.My only breaks are up on top of my "drip" return pipe in my overflow box. They work as they are designed to, but are not used for the same purpose as Mark's.They turn my "drip" return into a full syphon if the water level gets too high in my overflow box.
I will look into installing Mark's because when I shut down to feed, the boxes empty with a loud sucking "flush".I think Mark's will avoid that. Do you have the link?

Me too!
...Not 100% it will stop the overflow boxes from draining though, because the siphon is still working IN THE BOX until it is broken (when the box empties)...but I'm up for it anyway..can't hurt!

How much water is in your overflow boxes? With return pump off, they should empty in seconds...

I saw the scroll coral in the shot of your anemone excluder device (AED??). That means there's probably more corals in there! :0) Let's the full tank again!
