600 Gallon Upgrade Build

Love the progress..... Looking good

Thanks bp.

Nice black pug Dustin!
Yeah Wayne I'd keep the tank pretty simple to qt stuff in
Corey

What?? I get no love for my pug??? Just kidding. I will build just some frag racks for the system with PVC and eggcrate.

I have truly learned that not every forum is created equal. I've been told to add sand and rock and vice versa. Crazy reefing world we live in.

All that for just corals?

Sorry Wayne, not just for coral. I thought you were referencing a fish QT! Coral do not need to seek refuge.:wildone:

I'd just go with egg crate and pvc pipe as you referenced. I zip tied all my racks into the PVC and it's in 4 quadrants. Probably would have been easier to just make more sections and not zip tie the pvc so it makes for easier removal of sections for cleaning under the racks. To make sure you don't have settling in the frag tank I'd recommend adding a small powerhead under the frag rack so it keeps water circulating and nothing settles out. Even with the strong flow from the two MP40s at full blast and the return under the egg crate does not seem to have near the flow I'd prefer.

I'm really not sure why you'd want sand unless you have a certain coral you want to grow on sand so it does not start attaching to the eggcrate. In that case, you could easily put a small container of sand in it, place on rack, and then you've got a mini-sand bed for a few of your LPS.

I think I will go with that idea with sand in a Tupperware container. Thanks for the great idea.

Wayne how is the stand for your main tank coming? Also were you able to get the scratches out of it via buffing?

My buddy has 3 pugs, 1 normal colored, and 2 black ones....If I snatch them, can I join the party? LOL.....Although, I doubt he'd let me take them to florida from Maine. haha

I even built the screen protector so I don't have any jumpers.

Might want to paint the clear tubing. I love the way it looks now, but with its exposure to light, it won't look nice for long.
