Coral Tank

Coral Tank

Should I or should I not tie it into my main system. I will have it next to my DT.
Here is where it will go.

Thoughts, suggestions, concerns?

Also I moved my frag tank to this side of the room.

Pros of tied to DT
One water change does it all.
Dosing DT does it all
adds to DT water volume
no need for additional pumps
pre refugium refugium
little to no temp fluctuation

Cons of tied to DT
Cannot be used as a QT/hospital tank
hmm, that's all i could think of..

You could feed water from your display tank to this QT via gravity and a valve (I can help with that). Then have an overflow to gravity feed overflow from this tank through the wall and outside. The trick is to make sure your design insures that you can't accidently flow water from your QT to your DT and a good gravity fed system insures that.

Thats ironic because a person from another forum said the same thing you did. I think I am going to finish my stand for the coral tank and somehow get an early cycle going.

I cant take that chance with the outside idea because of the home owners association. But I can see the ideas :idea::idea: coming fast and furious from your brain. Thanks and talk to you soon.

You need to fix that crack or it will continue eventually.....you can fix it in place with another small piece over the top or just replace the pannel which is very easy and would only take a day.......it will fail eventually the only question is when....

If u dont intent to use it as a qt hook it the main system

It wont be used as a QT tank. Corals will be dipped and then rinsed with fresh or DT water. I have a cube that will be my coral QT tank.

I have considered that before the tank was redone. I also agree its when it will fail. I used weldon 16 to fix the crack. If worse comes to worse I can always find a small scrap piede of acrylic to cover the crack.
