600 Gallon Upgrade Build

Oh man that sucks but sounds like you have a good back up plan. You didn't let anyone down. I think it will be more fun to watch you build the new tank. I don't trust my diy skills enough to build something like that. So what will become of the tank you were working on? big frag tank??????

Talking to a good friend he convinced me to get the right tools and just start from square one. Good thing is the inside is 98% scratch free so I will get those little ones out, take the tank and move it into the house, work on the outside since it will be at a height so I wont have to bend over as much and save the strain on my back.

you have till june to get it done

For you sir, I will.

I feel sorry for any protein that tries to stay in your system. Thats a monster. Are you going to drill a hole in the cup to drain it or are you just going to take it off from time to time?

I am going to remove the cup and replace it with the OCT-CL300 Octopus Cleaner 300

What went wrong? What are the 'right tools' ?
I need to refinish three of my extra 120/130g tanks so I can sell them, so I'd like to do it 'right' from the start!

Wishing you the best of luck, for your build!

I was using an orbital sander and for some reason it left half circles in some areas of the tank. So the acrylic guy told me about this kit that you use with a drill that will help with the hard to get places. It also comes with different grits of sand paper so I have to sand all the places with a half circle all over again. I was just gonna ditch the idea and have a brand new one made but I have been patient this long another month or two shouldn't be any worse.

Well after the guys quote and serious thinking. I said to myself, "Self, you already spent 2 months sanding and buffing the tank, 2 more isn't going to hurt you." You know its bad when you start talking to yourself and refer to yourself in the third person singular past participle. Plus when the guy also told me it was going to cost another 2 grand to do my tank my mind kicked into play real quick.

So I searched online and found a site called Micro-Surface. They sell all types of micro-mesh kits and different kinds of grits of sand paper for various plastic jobs. I told them my situation and they recommended the Light Damage Removal Kit. They even referred me to a video on the procedure also that was up to date. I took the plunge and bought the kit and just recently received it in the mail. Here is what the kit consists of:
The carrying case:

The Micro-Gloss, Anti-Static Cream, and 2 Flannel Cloths:

The TufBuf polishing pad and White(in my case) Grey sponge pad:

The Back-up Pad, 4.75 inch diameter:

(2) 1500, (2) 2400, (2) 3600, respectively, Micro-Mesh 5" Discs:

And a kit parts reorder form and a set of instructions.

So I accessed where I missed my scratches and where I needed to finish the polishing and will repeat all levels depending on the severity. So as the song goes, "HERE WE GO AGAIN."

That's one large stubby skimmer. Looking forward to seeing your DIY DT running wet inside.....

Yes it is. I will mod the exit pipe when I set it up. I can't wait to get some water inside. But that will be down the road since I have some treatment I have to take and of course the buffing and sanding to be completed.
