600 Gallon Upgrade Build

Wayne, is ere a reason you didn't support the center of the tank. Like near the overflow box? Just seems like that is a long span to not have a vertical support? Or am I wrong, I'm not sure on acrylic. I am thinking of using some LVL beams on my stand.

If I had built it normally with center support I could have gotten away with just 2 x 4s and called it a day. The original plan was to make a sliding platform so when I did maintenance I could slide the sump out, clean it, fill it, and return it back to the original position. So to get away with it I used 2 x 8s/10s as the top part and the rest with 2x4s. He said after the equation they used that my deflection would be less than .1 or .01. So I stayed with that version.

Ok. Just curious because even my 48/48 acrylic tank I will support the center. But the logic stated makes sense.
Thanks buddy

Wayne, how are those purple queen anthias doing?

Only one is alive. And I think it's eating. All of the red dot cardinals are dead. They were eating but I just don't know what happened. Maybe lack of experience on my part.

I'm thinking almost like 2 stands each one 4ft by 2ft then connecting both stands structurally to make 1 stand but ensures have equal support down the middle of the tank.

If you can work that part out then cool. I would just make the top with 2 x 8s and the support and finish the rest of the stand with 2 x 4s.

Bulkheads cracking. Because there will still be some sort of vibration so I just said no OMs. I will alter that through various power heads.

Not trying to be a PIA, but could you elaborate, I have been leaning towards using some of these in the future and want to be sure I understand the problem you were having.

There is always going to be some sort of vibration on those return bulkheads. Eventually down the road whether it be months or years, they will crack and where there is a crack, there will be a leak. It might be worse if its glass and I am not sure for acrylic. But that was my thinking and another expert that I consulted with brought to my attention.
