600 Gallon Upgrade Build

If worse comes to worse I can always find a small scrap piece of acrylic to cover the crack.

If you're going to 'weld' a piece of acrylic over the crack, you should also drill a small hole at the end of the crack,(before you add the extra panel) to prevent it from 'running' further.

Long time no post. Glad you suggested that idea. I have always respected your knowledge. How small of a hole should I drill?

yes...albano is an excellent resource for information. I recently asked him some questions about his tanks and he replied very quickly.

Wayne do you have an eta on when your new tank will be wet????

Sorry Wayne, although I haven't posted, I still keep up to date and read every post! Don't worry, you're not gonna sneak anything past me!

Just a small hole, ~ 1/8" at the end of the crack should be fine. I have done this on a few tanks without problems.

Yes I did a search on his name(albano) when I was having the internal debate on glass or acrylic. His extreme success played a vital part in my current build

I am honored you stay in the background of my build. Thanks for the advice.

Got a 40 breeder today and I'm going to drill it to be tied into the main system. This will be used for colonies purchased before placed in the DT.

Hole #1 is 3/4" return:

Hole #2 is 1" drain:

Hole #3 is also a 1":

It was a slow, slow process drilling just one hole in my 40b. It drained my drills battery a few times. It's a shame you got through the first few holes and cracked the last. What do you think the case was? How far from an edge is that hole?

Better luck next time around! Good to see some more progress!

It was a good 3-4" from the top. And the funny part was I was breaking through when it cracked. I was kinda sorta probably maybe pushing a little to hard but I have acquired another 40 and am proud to say I was successful in drilling and should be plumbing it and cycling it soon.
