600 Gallon Upgrade Build

UUugh leroy...

Yes take it to the pro's and tell them exactly where to drill it. I know it is a few $$....

When you come up I'll let you help me on my tank, as long as you don't handle any power tools, I think I will be fine.

;)

I have listened. Well sorta. But my sports career(what little sports career I did have) has been put to a close. Docs said I won't be able to ever run or play basketball again and if I should choose to my knees won't last ten years. Bad part is the arthritis has already kicked in on my knees and will need to be cleaned out periodically.

Wayne - Man that really sucks. I am glad I stopped when I did. They actually pulled me from physical therapy during my incident and put me back in a boot and on crutches after I had been out of them for over a month. It was frustrating to say the least. Luckily my doctor put it in laymens terms I understood. 'Henry keep going to physical therapy and not listening and your ankle and your foot is going to snap right along here' as he pointed to my x-rays. After which I asked can I have crutches before I leave your office...lol.

so everyone can see!

Steve - Those pictures remind me the circus the clowns drive the little bikes...lol. I can imagine your son saying Dad when is it going to be my turn...lol. Some would say he is trying to push you along but I think he is trying to push you down...lol.

I can definitely see that the third time is not a charm.

Back to the professionals again.

Wayne - I also add my vote for you to let professionals do it...lol.

Wayne, I'm not sure if it's breaking from too much speed, or too much pressure, but why not practice making another hole or 2, since that piece is ruined anyway

It looked like it was a safe area, not too close to any edge. If you try again you should get some some practice glass sheets. I drilled my 220g.

I know but I rather spend the money for a pro than spend another hundred for a paper weight.

Thanks Al but I am professionally retired from drilling holes.

Hey... This is a family channel.

I have a 120 that I am going to drill three in for a beananimal overflow. Maybe I can bring you out of retirement when you are down and see if we can get that part started too.

Do you have the overflow box built for it already or are you just going to drill the back of the tank?

Wayne, just remember defeat is a temporary thing. Only giving up makes it permanent. :)

your bit may be crappy, or your lube isn't good, or there's not enough lube, or your technique needs improvement. Yes, I'm talking about glass drilling.

I just cant keep up with this thread. Apparently you cracked tank while drilling?
I have successfully drilled about 10 glass holes but in past several months i have cracked 3 large tanks by being an idiot and trying to do things myself. I recently even drilled a filled tank utilizing plastic bags taped on tank to direct water into tub, hose wrapped around my neck and drill in one hand. That was fun!

This is very true. Thing is the bits are practically new and the wholes drilled come out perfect. Maybe it cod be pressure and me not paying attention. Thank you for the motivation.
