600 Gallon Upgrade Build

Who are you kidding? That's not a Frag tank, you may tell your wife that, but we know its another display tank in the making :-)

Believe it not she believes me. But it is also a good thing she doesn't read my thread. She rarely goes to the back except to sweep the fish room.

600 Gallon Upgrade Build

You know, I've been concentrating on other areas of this build like stocking and lighting that I forgot about the look of the build.

I had a cabinet built

Then I recently(yesterday) added the doors to it

I still have to add the magnets to the doors so they can fully close.

And the base has been laid to place a granite slab.

Also here is my newest addition to the tank. I finally got a tru unicorn. He's a little skinny now but that won't last for long.

Plus I have a special surprise for dotcommer also.

Looking good! Looks like that Unicorn could use some fattening up! I like the glass doors below the tank!

I know. He's only been in the tank since Friday. He is catching on to the feeding cycle. He's by far the largest fish in the DT.

Great idea on the glass doors!

Believe it or not it's actually acrylic. I'm thinking of putting a design on the doors as I don't want all the wires to be scene.

Wayne, I don't know how creative you are or aren't but just a suggestion: investigate the world of faux stained glass painting. There's a whole world of craft products that people are using to imitate stained glass pictures. It can be realistic or totally abstract. You can get clear coats to layer between different media to create all sorts of effects. The sky's the limit on this stuff. I leave it up to your imagination.

I might copy the idea but at night with the fuge light there may be too much coming out.

I don't mind the clear acrylic but then again i don't want to see the back room either.

I was thinking of doing some stencils Dave but that is a great idea also.

Have you seen Wayne? The standard Kessil360 on sale. Your tank is relatively shallow. You could get the wide angle ones in 10K and then do a diy fixture for some t5 actinic. That would look really good with great shimmer and good pop on the colors. Sunrise and sunset could be controlled easily with an apex.
