600 Gallon Upgrade Build

I would cut back on your dosing of lime or stop for a day or two. Just watch your levels. If they only drop. .2 a day then just does lime once a week or so to get the level you want.

If you want to keep your levels more at 8ish.

Adding CO2 can be scary if you over do it.

Sounds good. Besides I don't wanna counter act the lime with the CO2 to only get the same results if I didn't use it at all.

Hi Wayne,

It has been a long time, I have not been here.
Really good to see your tank is running :)
I read about all the setbacks you had and am blown away with how much passion and effort you came over them.
I wish you all the best!
Now Im here to stay and help wherever I can :)

Best wishes
Mathias

Glad to have you back M. How have you been and hoes the fam? How's the tank doing? Hit me up.

I have been researching wild caught and mariculture acros. I have read that alk at 7.4-7.7 will promote better success since that's the water they are raised in. Also since I'm going zeo that's why I'm wanting to maintain that parameter as well. Here is where I am since the 26 May 2014.

27 May 2014 - 8.96 dKh
28 May 2014 - 8.9 dKh
29 May 2014 - 8.9 dKh
30 May 2014 - 8.79 dKh
31 May 2014 - 8.62 dKh
1 June 2014 - 8.51 dKh
2 June 2014 - 8.42 dKh
3 June 2014 - 8.45 dKh.

If this number remains stable for the rest of the week then I'll have to start tweaking the reactor.

Also the growth on my acros has brown tips? Has anyone seen this before?

600 Gallon Upgrade Build

I added about 100-150 lbs of rock to my sump. I needed extra protection for my bioload. Considering more fish will be added to the system.

The Powerhead Gods Have Arrived

Yesterday I added 2 WP60s to the tank. They are centered on the sideds and 8 inches from the top. Here is a small video of the flow. Note: The settings are on the lowest setting.

That looks great, I use a torch coral to gauge my flow...lol also if you place one slightly off center from the other you can make a rip current but I think one needs to be stronger than the other.

Nice flow Wayne. I use my 4 MP 60s at the fourth point lit on two cross & opposite ends and the other two at the lowest. Four is way too much for a tank but they do give you umteen wave motion options that I do not use. Great capabilities and should be great for your tank. You can create storms in your tank and wave motions as yo desire.

My duncans were my test coral since thats the only coral in the tank. I have one off centered because the airplane wing is in the centerd. I am impressed that they are still sticking considering the thickness of the acrylic.

Thanks O. I plan on adding 2 more once more corals are added to the system. I need to get the longer cords as they are to short or my tank is just to big.

Also Wayne at the higher speeds mine were coming off their support and in my case they are extremely difficult to get to (impossible) because the beautiful framing blocks access to them. An ooops on our part!! I wish I had all four tied somehow to an accessible spot. Just mentioning FYI and possible use if you have a similar situation . Longer chords would be greatly useful

Great flow man...

My duncans love high flow. And they have to since that I have 3 MP60 and 2 WP40's on the tank.

NIce airplane you have there. Really like it !

He Wayne,

looking good:)
Why do you have a flowerpot in the tank?
As a hide for the fish or maybe to house an anemone later on?
Sorry if I missed the answer somewhere in the thread.

Love your yellow belly blue tang :)

I purchased a breeding pair of black ice clownfish and that flowerpot was their home in the 10 (I guess) gallon tank. I put it in there to make them more comfortable. Now that there new home is 50 times bigger they haven't even been close to the pot.
