6000 gallon system - Project.

hey James I will go on post count alone here... I am sure what you did was fine.... People love to nitpick... leaks happen with any system and that much plumbing means there will be some.

also... Seasapience if you only got on this forum to give someone a hard time please leave, both you and scturbo's only posts have been in here bashing someone elses work.

Not true, reread the post. SCTURBO brought up some questions about the system and I merely provided some info as to why there were no pics of fish yet. Chillout dude... Please dont try to insinuate that I'm bashing anyone.

Since this is obviously a touchy subject for some, I won't be posting on this thread anymore until I get those pics.

peace

Can I get an IP check? :)

just found this thread and I plan to eat at the restaurant soon (maybe even tonight if I can swing it) since it's local to me. I look forward to seeing these monsters!!

James,

Thanks for the sand prior to your move. Where in Simpsonville is this restaurant? The only listing I can find for Silver Bay Seafood is out on Whitehorse Road in Greenville.

Thanks!

Yikes! I leave town for a day or two and everything gets crazy in this thread.
I am sure that the tank was well designed and that alleged missing UV bulbs is not the fault of anyone on RC.

Apologeticus... you moved from Atlanta correct? I am jealous that you are going to get to see this setup. Take some pictures if you go! :)

I agree, the tanks were well designed. They were designed by Tenecor. The plumbing is another story. They lost 200-300 gallons of water yesterday due to a new leak in the old plumbing. Also learned from one of the managers that the original installers got fired. As for the UV bulbs they evidently went missing long before anyone new came on the seen. I believe they were noticed by a contractor on the scene double checking things apparently. The company handling this said they found it odd that nothing was turned on and running when they were hired as so did a manager yesterday. I try not to assume anything in life and wish others would do the same. I'm sure that if anyone really wants to know, then they can go to the restaurant and learn for themselves. You may even run into the aquarium people there as they told me they are there a lot right now. They are good people and will be more than happy to show you around. As for those that live far away, I'll definitely have some pics for you tomorrow as I'm meeting them there to take some photos for myself. And maybe grab a bite to eat, I can't get enough of there salt&pepper catfish:)~

By the way, Silver Bay is located beside Jack in the Box right past highway 14. You might have to call 411 since it's a new restaurant.

Finally got a chance to go up to Simpsonville and check out the tanks. Beautiful!!

As for behind the scenes... I worked at Living Color before I moved to South Carolina, and that kind of "workmanship" would have gotten someone fired on site. Sloppy glue joints, purple glue splattered all over the place, leaky pipes, no unions in critical areas, DRAIN TO WASTE piping on a pressure rated line! I don't care if it's holding 5 psi, the system is way to expensive to go cheap on anything involved in it, no fresh water make-up, no RODI!!!! A 3 stage canister is all there is for fresh water make-up. I had to step over pipes while I was ducking under pipes being held up with twine. Shame on whoever plumbed that system.

Hey ScottC! What are you showing us in that photo? It looks like somebody's garage to me. If that's somebody's garage, did you just post the wrong photo or are we supposed to get something else out of it?

Umm... it does look like a garage. I see a GD opener, water heater, opener button next to the door and a parking stone so that the wife doesnt accidently run into the sump and/or water heater. :)

The complaints are selective - only ones that further the agenda are stated.

And I hope you're not saying this:

Purple glue splattered... First of all, the glue isn't purple - secondly, go back and redo that room of yours in purple primer/blue glue and see how it goes. Using clear for both isn't an option in a commercial application.

The other thing to consider is that you're comparing a home system in a 20X40 garage. There's considerably less space to work with.

I'm done with this thread... you folks have stepped in and crapped all over it. Just like you did in real life.

I no longer work for the company that installed it - and I'm 100% sure that the owner of that company will keep quiet because he has a LOT of integrity and ethics...

Frankly, it would be great if you would just start a new thread talking about the system maintenence and fish - and leave this thread to die. What you're doing is inaccurate, inappropriate, and could potentially be used against you in a forthcoming libel suit.

Have a great day.
