6025 Initial review

So far so good! I picked up two locally.

The flow looks great (more than my Seio 820's they're replacing). The spread is pretty wide and evenly dispersed. Very quiet, and a lot smaller than I'm use to. Being able to shoot flow in any direction is absolutely remarkable.

Although... I have a couple adjustments I would make to the product:

First, I think you're going to see a lot of the 6025 and 6045's in larger (180+) tanks as supplemental flow to help dead or weak flow spots. I'm personally going to use them as Seio replacements in my 58, and supplemental in my 180. That being said, the cord is way too short. If this is going in a hard to reach spot in a 180, the cord is barely long enough to reach out the tank, and to the bottom edge of the back of the tank. I would personally love to see another 2-3' minimum on the power cord (or at least have it as an option) for convenience factor. Overall, very minor issue as these are "nano" pumps, and not reallllly advertised for this use.

Secondly, I foresee you selling a TOOOOOOONNNN of the actual circular mounting bracket. Inadvertently, I broke two of the flimsy tabs off just getting it out of the cardboard packing. I had to cut the other unit I got out of the cardboard in order to not damage it. This is a simple fix just gluing the circular bracket to the actual magnet, which I even did on the one I didn't break. These really need to be beefed up 2-3, maybe 4 times as strong. That is especially the case on the 6055, which at anything but a straight angle might weaken the plastic when put on pulse via a controller. Although there is a very simple fix (glue), I see this as a much larger issue than the first.

Overall, very very very cool! I'll be replacing and selling all my remaining in tank powerheads. Great product, needing just a little fine tuning, but quite frankly what do you expect in the very first revision right off the assembly line? :)

Yeah, the cord is the industry standard at about 6ft. Don't ask my why this is the standard, but pretty much every pump and heater has this length of cord. The 6055 will have the big 15ft cord of the electronic pumps.

I know a local customer had the same problem with the tabs, I will mention it to them but besides being overeager to unpack it, I have found they are remarkably strong. I have clipped and unclipped the holder from the magnet on the one I am using several times. They used Lexan for this part, which is about as strong as plastic gets and it definitely is not cheap.

 Thanks for the response.

By the way, these are working GREAT in my 58 w/ softies/LPS. The wide flow lets me point them a couple directions and the current has picked up speed throughout the tank. I'll post some pictures a little later.

Finally got to move my big leather in place since my Seio is out of the way :)

I love the look with the Codium algae, that stuff is cool.

Is that what the green stuff in his tank is? It looks awesome.

Hi Eric
It attaches via magnet correct? Just like a magfloat would attach?

That's correct. They're small enough you can't see them as they're hidden behind the unit at this angle.

Day two, still kicking strong. I turned them on and off a few times while feeding and such. No issues there! No more reaching in to try to get my Seio's spinning again :)

Ironically my open brain and acan's all had had their "feeler's" out all day. I think they like the increased chaotic flow I can do with these instead. The polyps on my leathers are waving like crazy, and they seem happy as well.

put mine on no problems totally overpowers the seio love this pump i keep looking at it in amazement so cool looking with no mounting braket just a lil disk behind it

eric, do you think i should get 1 or 2 for my 24 gallon sps nano?

i was thinking of the 6045 but i'm thinking this would be too strong. can yo u also describe how tall the water spread is and if an sps were to be placed directly in this flow if it would be okay? thanks! sorry i've never owned a tunze!

How high can you place them before they start pulling a whirlpool?

I had mine about an inch from the water without issues. However, the surface moves quite a bit. Slow moving surface may impact that.

one thing i noticed is i think the Tunze designers have accounted for vorteces... i have mine with the output nozzle placed about 2 inches below the water... vortex still forms from time to time but the way the Nano Stream is designed the vortex does not reach the propeller and get chopped up... in my Maxi-Jet mod, this is what makes the noise and the tank filling micro bubbles... with the Nano Streams, vortex still forms, reach the output nozzle and just disappears without any noise nor bubbles...

I have a 6025 in my 58gal to supplement my CL while I wait for the 6055 and love the flow it is producing. Very quite and nicely distributed throughout the tank. Very nice product.
