6055 question

hey
i have a 6055 with singel controller.
i saw there is an option to chose the volts to operate the pump..
why is it there and how should i set it?
my home voltag is 220V-240V.

It is a speed control, the higher the voltage the stronger the pump.

can i set it on the higheset point of the Voltage with no problem in the short and long range?
