6055 Shaft

Hi - one of my 6055s started being rather noisy recently. On taking it apart to check and clean, I found that the metal shaft that the drive assembly fits over in the housing was rusty & loose. From reading other posts, I think this should be permanently fixed. Please let me know next steps.

Cheers

As Shawn said, some the very first 6055's could do this, in July we changed from a Chinese made 316 SS shaft to a German made 316ti shaft. This solved this problem as the 316ti is 1% titanium and is much stronger and while 316 should ordinarily be enough, my research into this problem let me to an article by Harvard University on poor quality control of Chinese made stainless steel. The basic problem is they use the same machines to make several grades of steel part and 316 is worthless if it has any contamination by other metals. I think fewer than 100 6055's were made with the old shaft so this is rare on this model.
