I recently purchased a 6060 and have it in my 150gal (60x24x24) in the corner blowing across the tank.

I beliee I read on some prior post that it is OK to us with a digital timer and have it go on for 15 minutes during day light hours, i.e., b/t 11am - 9pm I have in go on for 15 minutes and off for 45 minutes? Will this do damage to the motor over the long term?

Please advise.

ps - really impressed with the product!! If you do some simple math; although a 6060 is $120+, its output equals that of several large power heads and is therefore is actually cheaper with a smaller footprint!

Thanks,

Yes, as long as the their is no more than 1 off and on cycle every hour it is no problem. Start up on these pumps requires the centrifugal clutch engage and that is the point that wears out if start and stop occurs to frequently, the clutch just never gets a chance to retract fully and operate normally.
