6080 Destroyed?

I purchased a Tunze stream 6080 two months ago and I noticed that it was not working. I pulled it out and took it apart and found that the shaft had completely disolved. ***. Can it be repolaced? Has anyone ever seen this?

Man, if my shaft dissolved I would be ticked off! :mad2:

It probably was ground up by something entering the pump. The plastic is nylon which only very strong acids or alkalis can dissolve so that shouldn't be possible in an aquarium.

Over the years my shaft seems to have deteriorated somewhat (although I wouldn't say it has totally dissolved -yet)!

I caught it and laughed when instead of acids I typed aids- that'll dissolve your shaft. But I was trying to remain professional.

If you use full strength Muriatic Acid it will destroy the shaft. It will do the same thing on Seio's.

Yes, it also deforms all the plastic parts.
