6100 in tank placement

Hi Roger,

I know that there is no cut and dried answer to this question as there are a lot of variables, BUT still I would like your input.

I am setting up a 6x2x2.5(H) tank and in your opinion where is the best placement for the two 6100's?

Thanks,

PS The wave box video clip is awesome!

I have almost same size tank (6 ft by 2 ft high) and I've placed one 6100 on each end of the tank facing each other. I may adjust so that one is a little farther down in the water than the other. There is no room between my tank rim and hood, so I've mounted them (temporarily until the magnets are available) on the block of wood attached to the hood that rests right on the tank rim (and holds the hood in place).

The ideal placement varies but at a company meeting I attended the consensus was placement in the back corners aimed towards the front 1/3rd of the way in from each end is the ideal.

Sorry to hijack your thread :) but same recommendation if you have overflow boxes to deal with?

Yes. The reason this is the best flow is it creates a swirling deflected flow over the entire reef, moving it inwards may create lower flow or dead corners. I suppose one could do the opposite and mount them in the center aimed toward the outer 1/3rd of the aquarium.

Thanks Roger for the info, just wanted to check because its a bit of a hassle fitting them in my tank and just want to do it right the first time.
Boy oh boy, I wish the magnetic holders where available!

Jimmy D, placement obviously depends on other tank flow, LR placement & amt, whether or not you also use seaswirls, so every set-up will vary,Bob

Roger, re:
"The ideal placement varies ...consensus was placement in the back corners aimed towards the front 1/3rd of the way in from each end is the ideal."

Can you you diagram this placement? I'm having trouble visualizing it.
With 2 6100's, what is the 'best' way to set the multicontroller 7094 with the above placement?

Roger,

Per your quote "The ideal placement varies but at a company meeting I attended the consensus was placement in the back corners aimed towards the front 1/3rd of the way in from each end is the ideal."

I placed my two 6000's on each side centered facing each other. Would I get better results from from the back corners?

I do not mean too hijack this thread.

Thanks,
Chad

These suggestions are just that- suggestions. The point that the developers made with the layout they suggested was it is the maximization of diffusion of flow and spread. Most of the tank is covered with a gentle reflected flow. Ideally the layout is used with tide mode to give a back and forth washing motion.
