I just bought a 6105 and 7091 for my 150g tank. The tank in my living room. The 6105 is too noisy. With the singal controler, it sound like 'de.........' silent 'de.........' silent 'de........'

it is that normal? even I turn down to 75%, it turn down a little bit the noise, but still can hear.

I take it back to the retail, they refuse to change other one for me.

thank!!!

It could require a couple weeks to break in, but I would check a few things. Make sure both silicon bushings are installed, these are blue and at the end of the shaft. Make sure that a black disk is installed between the drive unit and the bottom bushing. Make sure the propeller has stamped in the middle 45, (45mm) and not 42mm and that the jumper on the power supply is 18V. Also check that the cover is on completely and is not loose and the rubber feet are on the magnet holder. What country do you live in?

I had a similar issue with a 6205. I placed a thin sheet of plastic in between the outside glass and the magnet. It now runs silent. Those are powerful magnets!

Hey Roger, I remember reading on here about problems people have had with noise in the 6105's and something along the lines of a design flaw. Is that what the case is with the 45mm vs. the 42 mm prop? So the newer 6105's have the 45 mm prop?

Yes, basically the original versions spin at a faster speed, they use 24V, at this high speed, a resonance noise is created. We slowed the speed by switching to 18V and increased the prop size to keep the flow rate the same.
