I need to add some more flow to my 7'x2'x2' penninsula tank. on the far end about 18" from the end i have a 6100 in a stream rock blowing at the far glass. on the overflow end i have 2 seio 2600's and i have a wavy sea in the middle on a dart going 360. I want more flow on hte overflow end and was thinking about replacing the seio 2600's w/ tunze 6200's. is this wise as i read that the 6200's don't provide "farther flow"? i would love to go with the 6100's for cost reasons but i don't think i will get much more flow from replacing 2600 gph w/ 3100 gph??? What is your suggestions?

I would replace the 2 Seio with 2 tunze 6201 (new version of 6200). The 6201 can reach up to 8f long tank. At 10600gph rating your fish and corals will appreciate it.

I would also keep in mind that the Seio flow is very different from the Stream flow. The Seio flow is more of a hollow tube and the difference in flow pattern will have an impact on the flow. I would bet that the flow of the 6101 will appear to be at least 50% more.

Ryan, just an FYI. The 6200 is an older model, the newer model is 6201. There is no different in performance except the new model has the driver build-in inside the motor block and it use a little less electricity (like 5w)

Thanks steve, i had heard that and just ended up typing 6200. i just pmed the guy selling hte wave box and the 6200 so hopefully i get it!

FYI...according to Roger in my thread this is what he had to say:

"A 6201 covers 72 by 30" vs 72 by 24" for the 6101."

There is truth to what Jar-Head said though, if you put a 6201 in a narrower tank the flow channels and reaches further but if there is nothing to channel the flow, the tank is plenty wide, it has the same reach as a 6101. Realistically on a 2ft tank it would reach about 8ft vs the 7ft of a 6101.

Yes, 6ft is the range that the flow is very effective but the 6-7ft range has enough flow for lower flow corals and with one on each side it should be plenty.
