I went up to Seascape Studio here in Saint Louis today with some frags and an RBTA for store credit and in one of their tanks there were 7 strikingly beautiful Hawaiian Bartlett's for sale. Matt fed them some mysis shrimp and they went nuts. I couldn't resist myself and HAD to have them. They are currently acclimating now in the fish room and I hope they do OK.

I will see if I can get a pic or two on my i-Phone..

I love anthias. They eat various kinds of mysis, cyclopeeze, nutramar ova, and shaved Rogger's food. Creates a wonderful activity level in the tank. Pictures, of course, are always welcome.

I'll be interested to see how well they do in the 470. I tried a trio in a 120 and it didn't turn out so well. Hopefully they get along much better is such a large tank. They are beautiful fish. Can't wait for the pic's.

Nice fish, my favorite anthias in terms of color and hardiness - my recollection though is that these come "through" Hawaii, and are not "from" Hawaii. IIRC, they are collected in the Marshall Islands and then transhipped to Hawaii and re-sold from there.

Dave you'll love them. I have 12 and they are awesome!! Mine are pigs...my favorite thing abOut them are their streamers

Well, they are all tucked in the tank now. Took a while to acclimate them from 1.017 to 1.025. I fed the 8 Lyretails with the VHO's on and put the Bartlett's in the tank. There was some friction between the arrangement of tankmates, so I turned the lights out for the night.

Griss had a handful of Bartlett's and they were great fish, both hardy and beautiful. His never killed each other off that I can remember either.

Hope all is well with them this morning.
Are the lyretails and bartletts all about the same size?
I've seen tanks where they seem to do great. Then there are people like me that just seem to have bad luck. I plan on trying it again, in my 200, with some lyretails. I want to see how well it works out for you first though.LOL

My Lyretails are at least twice as large as the Bartlett's because I've had them in the tank for over three years and they eat mysis like pigs. I hope they work out with the Lyretails or I will move them to the other tank with the Squarespot group.

I mistakenly got 3 different species of anthias, a male lyretail, a male resplendant and two female ignitus. One ignitus died in hypo. The three have been in the DT for several weeks now.

The resplendant lost it's coloration and looks female now. It gets chased by the male lyretail regularly but not damaging from what i can see.

The ignitus minds it's own business cruising the top of the tank constantly looking for food. It is ignored by all the fish.

So far so good but it's only been a couple months.

A little off topic, sorry. Have you ever tried to mix the square spots with the lyretails? The only reason I ask is that I have a male lyretail in my display, and a male square spot in QT. I'm a little nervous about adding the square spot.

I don't have Lyretails in my tank with Squarespots so not sure on that one. I do have three orange anthias that are with the Squarespots and they don't get harassed, but they look quite a bit different.
