700 gallon tank, or how i spent my daughters inheritance

Great to see pics from you Reefski. I learned a lot and enjoyed your build thread from a while ago. Are you still having trouble keeping corals in your home tank?

Amazing tank and pics Reefski !!

Wondering if you use any moon light ? I know moon light stimulates for clownfish to lay eggs, but your clowns must have some rabbit DNA LOL

Sorry for my english

i have a couple of sps corals. mostly softies, LPS, and anemones.

i will post a couple of pix of what i have. the pix just above the most recent ones are from the 120 gallon tank at the wife's office.

since so many corals died i have been reluctant to risk more life in my tank. i was given some corals a couple of months ago that are mostly doing well. the Acros are not doing well though.

your English is perfect! on the tank at home i have some blue LED's that are on at night, 30 watts.

i love them. most of the corals are fluorescent under the blue 460 nm LEDs.

the anemone fish are very regular about spawning. every two weeks or so. both in the home tank and at the 120 gallon office tank. the office tank fish just laid eggs yesterday. it is very interesting to talk to people about the anemones and the fish. lots of people come in the office that have never seen anything like it. i have never seen a real reef tank in an office before either.

it is a great conversation starter about the worlds reefs, global warming, etc.

there are some amazing creatures in the sea. a recent trip to Long Beach Aquarium. they have an amazing 5000 gallon reef tank.

these are not in the reef tank.

i think i might need one of these little cleaner wrasses. will they eat Ick?

i was just down looking in the tank while still dark and the pink Tail Trigger was at the shrimp cleaning station. trigger lodged in the rockwork with the shrimp running around his body.

they have an amazing very large Anthias tank that is a joy to watch. dozens of Anthias of several different species.

WOW !! Very nice pictures !! Keep them coming.

Regarding the cleaner wrasse, NO they will NOT consume itch !! They just eat parasites the fish might have.
Do you have UV ? Give them fish paste with lots of garlic !! Thats what helped me in the past.

Reefski, what camera and lens are you using?

i have a Canon 7D and i used a 18-135 f3.5-5.6

natural light from the skylight over the tank and taken late morning or late afternoon, 4ish.

i always shoot in RAW now and process the photos in Lightroom. that has made a huge difference to the quality of the images. i would always shoot in RAW. you can always downsize the images later.

they are exported from lightroom at 72 dpi and about 50-60 percent resolution. that is what gets uploaded to Photobucket.

the fish are acting no different than always. i have had Ich on Koi and they do act differently scraping on the pond, jumping, and dying.

good to know about the wrasse. i know they dont survive in tanks for long. i will not get one.

i have ozone that i will ramp up. my skimmer needs a good cleaning. maybe today. no UV. i should have kept the 400 watt one that i sold when i stopped running the big koi pond.

i make my own food from many different items from the fish market and also the fish store. somewhere way back in the thread there are photos of the making of the food.

it is almost time for a new batch. i will incorporate some garlic. i make about 12-15 pounds at a time depending on what is available. how much garlic would you use?

In that many lbs i don´t know !! But i usually soak the food for about 5-10 minutes in garlic before i give it in my system.
I would sugest you put as much as you can. Garlic is not proven to kill ich, but it will boost up the inmune system of all the fish in there. Also try to get a UV filter, really works. You have a huge system with a bunch of things so you can´t medicate in there.

I say get the cleaner Wrasse. I'm not sure what your definition of living long is but I've had mine for almost 3 years now. He eats a little bit of everything, It works over every fish in my tank every morning. Only get one because of aggression issues. I had 2 in my 220 and it would run the weaker one in to the overflow. He lived in the sump, swimming over and between the baffles for over a year. He died because I vacuumed the sump. I sucked him up and he went down the drain before I could catch him.

thank you so much for your input.

do you have the one above in the turtle picture? that is really interesting. i have read that they will not eat prepared foods. that is great. what do you feed your tank?

that must be fun to watch. do the fish line up or what?

my shrimps only do cleaning in the dark.

My tank and everything is for sale- $10,000

i can't do it anymore. i was in a bike accident a month ago and broke my clavicle when a woman opened her car door in front of me and my wife. she was just behind me. she also fell and broke some ribs which as many you know are very painful.

we are going to be selling the house one of these days and the tank is an impediment to that. i know because we tried last year and people loved the tank but no one wanted the responsibility.

i am 60 years old and want to be able to travel without stressing about the tank.

i would prefer to sell all at once.

the tank is acrylic peninsula style 8x4x3

there is too much equipment and livestock to list completely.
partial list includes
tank
stand-2x2 tubing with baked enamel finish and rhino liner sprayed over that
three or four 4oo watt halides
large protein skimmer
large calcium reactor
large Kalc reactor
about 8 controllable Tunze pumps and controller and numerous other powerheads
heaters several
400 gallon water storage tank
250 gallon water storage tank
qt tank

hundreds of pounds of live rock and live sand
all the livestock

other stuff

if interested come have a look at it all.

i have a truck i can offer to help move. i can't help with the lifting and moving though.
