this guy is picked on by the male Hippo tang. i have a local fish vet that i will give the two Hippo tangs to once i can catch them. they have HLLE and he has a treatment that he wants to try. i have a plan.
hard working aiptasia eater along with the Klein's Butterfly. they have been in the sump tank for a few months and now on in the DT. i haven't seen them eating the aiptasia or Mojano's but i think there are less.
last March i got 5 Ecoxotic LED pendants. 4 100 watt and one 120 watt, white LED. they have been a great addition to the system. much less electricity and the best growth i have had. i now consider the sunlight from the skylight a supplement to the LEDs rather than the other way around.
can you re-freshen me on what the vet is doing?
also, do you still have the tank that was outside? or the other one you had? (i remember you having a second temp tank that was doing good? )
the vet is not disclosing the treatment yet. he wants to make sure it works and he may do a more scientific paper about it.
i only have the one 700 gallon tank now with it's associated 550 gallon or so sump.
the outside tank was the sump from the 700 set up when i thought i was selling the house and moved it to the office to house the fish. it has been back at the house as the sump for a couple of years.
i had a 120 gallon tank at the office that was SPS running with no skimmer, only a turf scrubber which was great. however it was two trips a day for me or my wife to feed and the clincher to break it down was when kids were playing with the powerhead magnet sliding it along the glass and dislodged it which stirred up the sand bed and several corals died. i brought it all home and consolidated it into the 700 and sold the tank, and turf scrubbers. the LED's are now over the 240 gallon that is part of the sump part of the system.
now if i could only find the right fish to eat the Mojanos! i hear a Burgess(sp) Butterfly will do that. anyone have any feedback about Mojano eaters?
