7096

Why is it that my 7096 feed mode and night mode only engage when i have it plugged in via USB and the program running?

As soon as i send the settings i want to the controller and close out the program and disconnect it from USB ill hit the feed button and it only stays active for 20 seconds instead of 6 minutes like i programmed. Also at night mode when the lights go out only one of my tunzes slows down and the other one goes full speed all night!

With the lights on my tunzes are acting just fine in interval setting so i know the controller is working for at least that function.

thanks!

How many pumps do you have and what model? Night mode is whatever you set for Speed 1 on the 7096 (top row) so if one is set to be 100% in this bar, that is what it should do.

oh duh! Ok that worked i feel stupid now.

But still the feed timer wont stay at 6 minutes like i have. its 20 seconds at best

Yes, but I am not sure if this is the pump or controller that is causing this. Do you have more than one pump doing this and what model?

Do they come on and stay on or is this just a single burst, fish care would turn the pump 1/2-2 rotations every 20 seconds?

they act like its programmed to only feed for 20 seconds. After the 20 seconds normal operation continues in high pulse mode.

Can you give me a week or so and bump this thread? I have a local customer with the same problem and if I can determine from his whether the controller or motor is the cause, yours will be much simpler. His pump is a wavebox so we are waiting for a wavebox pump to come in before he stops by.

N8rad,

This sounds very much like the issue I was having with my 7096 and a pair of 6205's.

At Roger's suggestion I did a reset on the 7096 using the avrootloader software in the Tunze folder, it solved my foodtimer issue.

You may want to take a look at my thread "7096 foodtimer" here in the Tunze forum.

Hope that helps you.

I erased the 7096 and re-flashed with the "tunze7096.acy" ROM file but still didnt fix the food timer feature.

One new tidbit of info though...if the 7096 is plugged in via USB period the food timer works, but as soon as you unplug it doesn't work. So there is something there maybe to look at.

I just need a couple more days, his wavebox pump arrived and I am just waiting to hear back from him and make the test.

Hi i just bought Tunze 7096 and has the same issue. When I press the food timer button the pumps stay off for maybe 30 seconds then they turned back on even though i set the timer for 10 mins. When I has the USB cord plug in to the computer then they would stay off for 10 mins. Is this really a known issue? I spent a lot of money of this and really want it to work. Thanks, Gus

I erased the flash and re-flashed with the "tunze7096.acy" ROM file like Yogre suggested and the food timer still doesn't work. I'm stuck.

n8rad, sorry I'm not trying to steal your thread but it looks like we have the same problem.

I have only 3 reports of this issue and we still haven't resolved n8rad's issue as far as I am aware. The one we did resolve was a local customer and it turned out to be the motor. Essentially what is happening is that during a fish care cycle which happens about every 20 seconds when the foodtimer is activated, the power is being interrupted, and it could be either a power supply or a pump or a controller cable. This is resetting the foodtimer.

How many pumps are you using and what model? I would try to narrow it down by running just one pump at a time. I would also try different voltages on the power supply. If it only occurs at 18 or 24V, we would know it is the power supply.

Roger,

I have 2 pumps 6105 and 7096. They are brand new just purchased from premium aquatics. I tried different voltage like you suggested and also tried many different scenarios. Here is the result.

Pump 1 Pump 2 Food timer
24 V 24 V doesn't work
18 V 18 V works
18 V 24 V works
24 V 18 V works
24 V not run doesn't work
not run 24 V doesn't work
24 V 24 V + USB plugged in to computer then food timer works

What do you think?

Thanks,
Sonya

It is definitely not the controller and I have the technician in Germany looking into it. We suspect that what is happening is at 24V the power supply is blinking off or briefly putting out AC instead of DC so it will be a power supply issue most likely. I expect confirmation one way or the other by Friday and we will send the needed parts, he needs to check if it is the 24V jumpers themselves, the power supply or some interaction. Since with one at 18V, the controller always has power from one pump, this interruption does not occur.

He did ask me one question, he wanted to be sure that the white knob is at full power on the small connection box. If this is turned down it would be a definite cause as this dims the voltage going to the controller which should always by 8V.
