Ah so you covered the whole thing with silicone.. I thought you meant placing the crate on 4 pads of silicone.

How much did it reduce the noise for you? Nice idea with the curved lip so it doesn't vibrate off the sides.
I originally tried setting the eggcrate on pads, but the pads always came out and floated everywhere when I performed maintenance. I tried this out as a dumb idea... and it worked amazingly well. Got rid of just about all of the vibration.

The only noise I get from my tank are the 2 - 4" IceCap fans in my canopy.

Nice progress... the new project is certainly moving quickly.

Much thanks expert fishkeeper

Wow... I love that room. 1/4" mahogany! Isn't that overkill? For the egg crate I used my wire snips (for speaker wire and such) and then cleaned up the edges with a utility knife. Takes a bit of time but clean edges and no worries. I would reconsider getting the 125 drilled. It would be awful if anything did happen.

Thanks Tim. The wood is actually a good thickness believe it or not. Not too wobbly or too thick. Will post more pictures in a few days when more is done.

You know I'm not sure what to do about the drilling/overflow. I have one Lifereef that I got and I wouldn't want to waste it. Lifereefs also have never failed, unless you have an inadequate return pump and it's too slow. I'll give er a think...

I don't know what to do in order to make my own internal overflow... the bottom glass is tempered so I would have to drill the side back panel near the bottom and install bulkheads into it + silicone.

After that, I don't know what to do or how to make those black overflow pieces that protect the pipes.

Does the eggcrate you put LR on have to cover the entire base of the tank or only in the parts where you want the rock? I know the more crate you have, the better the weight distribution... just wondering since there is no more available to purchase at the store and mine is a bit chopped in places.

Honestly you don't even need it if you have a sandbed in my opinion. I just used it as a precaution. However, I see nothing wrong with placing it like you suggested.

I didn't use it (eggcrate) and my tank seems to be fine. I put the sandbed in and then nestled my base rock in for a good solid fit.

Ok I'd like some opinion. I want my aquascaping to be a good one (not just the pile) so I am planning to drill some of the rock and place an acrylic rod in them.

I hear all you have to do is drill holes in the rock and place the acrylic rod right through them all.... and it won't tip (if the biggest rock is on the bottom of course)... is this true?

If so would this material be ok to use?

Clear Acrylic Rods
"Coraline Algae" Rods

Please advise... also what kind of drill bit do I need?

Actually will use fiberglass instead.... now what about the base. I would like to use a solid rock to secure the rod into... like this

What kind of rock should I look for? Concrete? What rocks are safe for the aquarium.... will be going to home depot.

WOW! I never thought to do that. I love it. Well for a drill bit just make sure it can go through concrete and your fine. Carbide tip I believe. The LR is much softer than concrete. I'm not sure on what rocks are safe. I read up on how some people make there own base rock to be seeded so I know there is something that will work. Just fyi your cycle may take a tiny bit longer due to non live rock adding in.

Oh and I vote for the clear acrylic.

Couple new pictures... tank stand is also complete... wall is anchored to concrete floor and stand is anchored to wall.
