8 line flasher wrasse

I decided to go with PIA. I want a harem and dont feel like paying 35 shipping. The PIA fish are supposted to be well priced. so well see.

You'd rather pay $50 for shipping from PIA? :lolspin:

I"m looking forward to seeing what PIA brings in this year. :fish1:

Mine coming in Thursday. LA did screw up the order but they did a great job making up for them. I ended up getting another female, figured with 2-3'' female one will turn male pretty soon.

i wanted to give mine a few days to settle in and color up. but after reading the rest of this post and the mixup i figured i'd confirm. did i receive a female or a male? the fins dont have that dark red, but i havent seen any flashing yet either.

Looks just like my female...so I'd assume yours is as well. From the pics I've seen the females dorsal fins seem to be opaque where the males fins are a much more pronounced red.

thats the look of a very stressed fish which i have been able to eliminate by introducing such a fish into the display tank ,thats why i do it that way .much better for the fish concerned IMO.

Again, thats your opinion that you've stated already. No need to reintroduce to the conversation.

IMO, that fish doesn't look as stressed as other pictures even in this very thread (post 206 as an example). Not to say its not, but the others are so very obvious with the white vertical lines down the side...which this pic doesn't have.

this will be my last post here as the eight lined flasher police are on me but i hate when people won't listen to people that have great success with such fish . im sorry but i just have trouble being quiet when an animal is removed from its natural habitat just to be abused and possibly killed .the second picture is a picture of a severely stressed fish and that is a fact as it has his camouflage pattern out plain and simple , thats stress .oh yes and i bet he really loves that piece of pvc as his safe haven ? whats that represent a cave made from ivory ,probably not that recognisable to him and certainly not calming either .
happy new year .

The fish is in an acclimation box in the display tank. I wanted to make sure he was eating and give the other fish a day or two to get aquainted before releasing him/her in the display.

If I have a fish that goes directly into the DT I do the same thing. Put him in the acclimation box to protect him from harassment. The PVC isn't supposed to "replicate" anything in the wild, its simply a place for him to hide if he feels the need. I was just using your pic as an example launchnukes...no disrespect to you at all.

How is she doing by the way? Did you release her into the DT yet?

Thats a bummer you guys didn't get the males you ordered. At least it sounds like they are attepmting to make things ok for you.

I don't think I realized there was another 8 line flasher. Too bad I sold my Flasher and Fairy Wrasse book last year.

Yeah, almost the same scientific name:

Flasher: Paracheilinus octotaenia

Other guy: Pseudocheilinus octotaenia
