how does that glass stay so clean after 3 years is a lot more impressive than the tank-- good job wink wink

That is very impressive! Do you have any secrets? A hidden 800 gallon refugium with a few human-size clumps of chaeto maybe?

Hi

Thanks for the kind words.

Well, i don`t do anything special. When i first started this tank, it was ment to run with zeovit and waterchanges. But then things got a little more complicated(2 kids, new house, new garden, new job ect. ect)

The only thing i really got my eyes on, is the KH in the tank. It stays at 8 to 9 dkh.
Every time i test my parameters(ca,mg,po4,no3), they are always in check.

This is NOT a thread about waterchange is a waste of time and money. Personally i think it is one of the best things you can do to your tank.

It is just a thread about another way to have a sps tank.

Kind regards

Christian

I agree. What ever works for you is best. Like they say, there's more than one way to skin a cat.

I'm on the same boat. I have a couple Sps but my tank has been doing great w/o water changes for about a year. It is a 90 gal with15 gal sump. Bk mini, bio pellets, prodibio, and kalk reactor.

Hi again

After i have read a german article about keeping more than 1 pair of gramma loreto in a tank, as long as they are in even numbers. I added 6 more to the tank, so there is now 8 in the tank. After a month every thing is just fine. The funny part is that, the old pair is no longer together. Guess one just got a better offer :-)

Hi

Thank you.

I don`t dose any supplements at all, only the ones my calcium reactor can provide. I have just testet my water.

Specific gravity: 1.024

Alkalinity: 9

pH: 7,7 - 8

Magnesium: 1350

Phosphate: 0,03

Nitrate: 0

How do keep magnesium in line if you do not do regular water changes and rely only on a ca reactor for supplementation?

agreed, that doesn't make any sense. sure no wc if you dose. but my mag drops 5 or 10 ppm a day.

Lovely tank. Can you post a list of fish in there, and how long you've had them?

Very nice. I've seen some beautiful tanks on RC that do not do water changes. I do, but *1 on finding that natural balance.

Hi there

agreed, that doesn't make any sense. sure no wc if you dose. but my mag drops 5 or 10 ppm a day.

The reason i can keep my mag stable is because i use A.R.M,. extra coarse media in my reactor. It has a high concentration of mag.

I have just testet for iodine and strontium and they are both in check.

The plan is to continue to run my system with no wc as long as my paremeters are in check. Sometimes i get a little confused myself, because i always thought that having a sps system, ment weekly waterchanges and other supplements.

Kind regards

Christian
