800 liter with no waterchanges for 3 years

Just a comment on the Calcium Reactor thing. The ARM media is basically old coral skeletons, the way it works is that your adding CO2 which completely dissolves the coral skeleton and adds it into the water column. The old coral skeletons are going to contain all of the nutrients needed to build/rebuild a coral skeleton so it makes sense that you wouldn't need any supplements for the health of the corals. Skimmer, live rock and filter socks can take care of the dissolved organics and waste removal. Just goes to show you that if you setup a system properly it can be very low maintenance. Good job and keep it up.

do you clean the sand ? or have a really good clean up crew? also what id the light cycle?
Tank looks GREAT

Hi

I dont clean the sand. The sand is turn around by 2 seastars, cant remember the name, but it is the common white one.

The light is on from 13.00 to 22.00

what do you do to keep your nitrates and phosphates in check? guess the nitrate reactor works pretty good...how often do you have to replace media

Hi again

My nitrate reactor is doing aprox 1 drop pr. second, is is produces very clean water, but i also use ro/di water. I have replaced the nitrate media one time in the last 3 years. I dont use phos. removers, but i use ca. 500 ml carbon.

Kind regards

Hi ostentum

Your right, arm media is old coral skeletons. I think thats why i dont need to dose any supplements, just as you said.

nice tank man,and glad to see you getting it right without water changes.

I'm trying to understand what happens to your phosphates...do you dose any bacteria etc at all? also how often do you feed and what exactly are you feeding?

Thanks
Ahmed

Are you using a plenum? Bc I don't understand how your nitrates are in check. Well congrats on the tank looks good

Hi Ahmed

Thank you. I don`t dose any bacteria at all,and my phos. has always been around 0,03 (rowaphos testset). I feed 3 frozen cubes of artemia a day, and 2 times a week with nori. Sometimes i feed with flakefood, but thats maybe one time a week. Whats happen to my phos ? well i don`t know, i never have had any issues with phos in my tank. From time to time i consider adding something to the tank (vsv, grotech a,b,c, amino acid, rowaphos ect) but every time i just convince myself, thats it is for the best not to do it, as long as the tank is ok.

Hopes this answers you question

Kind regards

Christian

thanks, are you using tap water or ro water?

also could you please post some pictures of your engine room/sump for us ?Thinking of using a similar method in my new tank but maybe just not the calcium reactor way...

aah ok so carbon dosing is keeping your phos in check:) how much of this do you dose and how often?

or am i completely of the money and you just talking about activated carbon lol in which case what does the ca. stand for?

He is talking about the activated carbon, he dosent use vsv, or anything like it.

There is a sulfer no3 filter, that runs with a drop a sec, the po4 must be removed in his sandbed or rocks. its more or less stable at 0,03.

i guess ca = calc reactor.

I don't see any coral line algae. What ever that means?

Tank looks great, I would do daily water changes to have mine look like that.
