800 liter with no waterchanges for 3 years

Hi again

Thanks for the compliments.:spin3:

The tank is in our kitchen/livingroom. It`s handmade in Germany by Aquarien Geis. They have build the tank and the canopy(very good quality) .

I will post some more pictures from the tank and the sump tomorrow.

Kind regards

Hi again

Finally i got the time to give you a little update. After some probs in the summer, everything is back on track. I have done some small changes in the tank, and got some new sps. I added 2 acropora Hoeksemai and a acropora horrida and they seem to do fine. The system is still running with no wc and no additives other than my koralin 1501.
Just made a small video enjoy http://youtu.be/iHsAGT7lOeg

yup yup nice tank-\
Mine is running n 1.5 years w/o water changes- it can be done, just needs some extra special attention to husbandry.
BTW I run a quite similar bulb comboFYI

lots of people swear by water changes. I had a 300 gallon that i never did a single water change on and the sps grew out of the tank. Now that im trying to do changes its not working out so well. It has to shock the system a bit to change 50 gallons on a 200. It changes the entire water chemisty i dont care what anyone says. If the alk,cal and other stuff is in check the tank will do better vs trying to change things with water changes. very beautiful tank.

Fantastic tank. It seems to me that every mature tank is just gorgeous. It's all about keeping the system healthy long term. That's amazing...

Thank you. Just saw a pic of your tank, and it looks really nice. Like you said, it can be done:beer:

How old is your tank ?

I totally agree on that. If your parameters are in check i see no reason to do any change. This is my first sps tank, but if i should start all over again, it would be without wc.

Hi

Well, finally i have made my decision to tear the tank down.
The tank have developed a massive look, and in fact that was not the idea, when i started.

The new setup will be with Atoll riff deko and some dead rocks. Thinking of some 10 kg cured live rocks also. Most of the old corals will be transfered into the new setup.

I will start a new build thread as soon as i recive the new atoll deko.

See you all soon in the new thread.

Kind regards

Christian

what benefit would he get from lying.

I totally think its possible......I just don't think I'll be trying it anytime soon.

i dont think i believe you on the no water changes in three years..seems impossible to me

i can then tell you that my system has ben running a little over a year with no wc.. and it doing fine... good color, good growth... the key to the succes is, i belive a calcium reactor.
