800 liter with no waterchanges for 3 years

Lovely tank. Can you post a list of fish in there, and how long you've had them?

Hi SDguy

Here is the list

1 - Neocirrhites armatus 3 years

1 - Amphiprion frenatus 3 years

1 - Pterapogon kauderni 2 years

4 - Ptereleotris zebra 3 years

3 - Zebrasoma flavescens 2 years

3 - Paracanthurus hepatus 2 years

2 - Macropharyngodon meleagris 1 year

1 - Halichoeres chloropterus 2 year

1 - Halichoeres melanurus 1 year

1 - Halichoeres chrysus 2 years

1 - Pseudocheilinus hexataenia 4 months

8 - Gramma loreto 2 for 3 years and 6 for 1 month

In the near future i will add a sailfin tang and 4 Pseudochromis fridmani, and that will be the last fish in the tank.

Hope this answers your questions.

Kind regards

Christian

I always like less maintenance!!

I get the no WC, but with a skimmer in the mix, you have to be added New Saltwater to compensate for what the skimmer is removing, otherwise your salinity would be dropping over 3 years.

Are you skimming very wet? How much water are you removing/adding each week via skimming? I personaly really like the idea of wet skiming for effective nutrient removal & less frequent WC's, while just adding say ~1-2% of fresh SW each week to compensate for skimmed water. Then just do a 10% WC every 4 weeks or so!....assuming all params stay stable & adequate

Tank does look very amazing!

Very nice ...

so are elements reproduced in your tank ? I dont understand how for example iodine (which is used by corals) hasnt dropped in 3 years ?

maybe something special in calcium reactor ?

I only do water changes to replenish lost elements, if we can figure a way to fix that, then ...

Carib Sea ARM media contains:
iodine, strongium, mg. I use the samething, and i never have to add anything to the tank either.

btw i seen this tank in person, the corals are verry healthy, when i have isues with my system, they usaly end up staying in his tank for a period, and within month they are twise as big as before. The growth is amazing!

No waterchanges, wow I find it hard to believe. Your system is awsome man, well done. I want to hook my calcium reacter soon up and not dose anything at all. How do you mantain alkalinity as you dont run a kalk reacter?

its run by a calcium reactor.. with arm media :)

Hi 110galreef

I skim very dry, and i mean really DRY. I almost get no waste water in my skimmercup, a lot of the waste is on the inderside of the skimmerbody. If someone come and get some frags, i topup with some saltwater(max 25 liters pr. year).

Thanks for the nice words.

Ohhh !! I see, I will do more reading on the ARM media !!! thank you :)

how do you have your reactor setup? are you running through a controller of some kind

Hi Islander84

No, i dont have any controller on the system. The only thing i use is a transparent glas, so i can count the co2 bubbles. It is set to aprox. 1 bubble pr. second. The water is coming from a bypass from the returnpump.

Hi Mads(starf)

Tak for hjælpen, du er jo kemimanden af os to( Thanks for the help, you are the chemistry guy )

what do you do to keep your nitrates and phosphates in check? guess the nitrate reactor works pretty good...how often do you have to replace media
