800g Cube 72" X 72" X 36"

updates? pics? give me something man I need to know

No update yet! I have been to busy.

I can't imagine the amazing aquascaping possibilities -islands after islandssss. I've never seen a 800 gallon cube and curious to see how the tank will be build.. is it going to have a canopy or open top? TOTM from dec 08 really has a great 4 sided (almost cube) reef; the hidden equipment and pumps really impressed me. Look forward to visiting this thread - best of luck.

I'm thinking of having a canopy that goes to the ceiling.

There's always a sumpless option. With today's accurate ways of top off and dosing, having nothing in the middle at all makes a circularly-viewed cube a one-of-a-kind.

What about a skimmer? You saying go skimmerless?

I have changed the dimensions of the tank. 96" X 72" X 30". For a water volume of 895 gallons. I guess I need to get title changed  I guess its moving away from a cubbish tank after all.

Ill go ahead and disagree with some of the people on here and say I can't wait to see this tank come to life! I remember a TOTM a few years ago that was a cube with a basement sump and center overflow I thought was one of the coolest tanks I've ever seen. Good luck and I'm in for the subscription!

Yeah this one. One of my favorites... Sorry I missed this :-p

Following along..
I'm planning a 300-600g tank for my basement now that the renovations are finally started.
As a fellow 'pegger, I'm very curious to see how the build goes. I don't know if there are any local builders I'd want to do a large tank. I figure building it in place is the best bet given the huge weight of a completed tank.

Are you going to get the glass sheets cut for you?

Any details you can share I'd be interested in hearing.

Thanks!

Yes all sheets of glass will be precut. I will have them slid into basement window that is 4 feet wide.

Do you mind if I ask where you're going to get the cut glass from? I noticed there are a few places in the city that do water-jet cutting; I imagine the results from that would be amazing.

Sure Fort Rouge Auto glass is where I'm getting the glass from and yes they do the water cutting of the glass.

Funny, I drive by there nearly every day and never once did it occur to me that an auto glass place would cut thick plate glass. Hah

I'll definitely be following your construction then. Be sure to post plenty of pics. You might just encourage me to build my best tank.
