90 gal build everything...(PIC INTENSE)

Awesome build. I wish this was up before I started building my stand for my 90.

Question on the canopy, am i seeing this right, did you use 3/4" plywood for that?

Great work. I know it took you alot of time but you definitely have something that you can be proud of. Thanks for taking the time to post everything.

Yep..Its 3/4" oak plywood for the canopy..I know its a bit much of an overkill, but Its the only thing that would support the doors to match my stand (mainly because I used the hidden hinges) however it also supports the top whick is removable (it just lifts rifght off..for quick access to the lights.

Thanks for all the comments everyone!!! Ive done some more work , and Ill try to post some more pics.

Your sump baffles seem very high. Is there enough room for the volume of water, from a power outage.
Mine gets about 5 gallons when its done.

yep...it runs about 20 and will hold 30 gallons total when filled up completely.

Cool! Looking good.:)

so I started a couple of projects this weekend.. first I started the resivoir room..I used two 35 gallon rubbermaids.. They each are plumbed to a mag 5..I have plumbed each bucket so that the pump will run 24/hrs and option for three different routes..the first just cycles the water keeping it in constant motion.. the second option allows to have water pushed through a hose for fill ups by bucket if so needed. then the third option pumps the fresh rodi water over to the other bin. In the other bin it also circulates itself, has a hose option for filling buckets and then as the third option...filling directly into the sump by hose....Its in this second bin that I will mix saltwater. So....

Then I started with my fuge light box...I wanted a little more than just a hanging flood light bulb, and was'nt about to buy an expensive PC unit..SO another DIY project....
I started by puchesing a desk lamp from HD for like $20.

The cool part about the lamp is its a Compact flourescent w/ bulb that has a coolwhite spectrum at 6100K! its perfect.
I then very carefully dissassembled the plastic casing and kept just the wiring harrness.

Then I built the box out of some scrap 1/4" oak paneling I had laying around..

I cut out an insert for the lighting pin bracket to seal off to..

After building the frame, the light was ready for installing.. I started by sealing the box with chaulk to help keep out moisture.

100_2289.jpg

The power cord was run through the back and siliconed in place ..
100_2290.jpg

Then last step for the night, I placed a lid over the wiring and ballast and sealed in inplace with chaulk as well..SO everything is completely sealed in and water tight....

opps....

Tommorow night Im going to paint the entire box with an oilbased acrylic paint to help seal it before installing the rflector.

hmmm....dont know really, Just thought it be cheaper...and I got the chance to build something custom.....I think I like it like that.
