What was the process for finishing the stand?
ie. products used, how many coats...

well, for the stain, I used Olympic brand oil based stain (merlot). I used two coats and allowed 24 hrs between coats. Then to seal it I used minwax polyurethane. I think it was semi-gloss, Ill have to check when I get home tonight. At any rate, this was applied in 6 coat. However I cut it to 50/50 with mineral spirits. This "waters" it down or thins it out, so that its much easier to apply and less likly to run on you. I used a stain foam brush for the application. I know some people say to use a high grade bristle brush, but I get better results with a foam brush..Between these combos, I didnt even have to sand betwwen coats. I followed this procces allowing 24 hrs between coats, easing up on how much I diluted the poly.. The final coat was like a 90/10 ratio. hope this helps..

Well my lucky day has finally arrived. Ive finnaly filled the tank this weekend and picked up some base rock from my local fish store.. and this is how we roll.......

all in all not bad, 120 lbs of fresh live sand(fiji pink), and 105 lbs of fiji base rock...I may change the aquascaping some, but Im fairly happy with it.....I guess Ill let it cycle for a few weeks and then look into some very select pieces of rock and then start stocking it.

Looking Great. I have just a suggestion though...to make cleaning easier.

Move the RED pile over a little, so you can get a mag float or such in there.
Move the GREEN Pile on top of the bridge, it will hide the Powerhead.
Move YELLOW pile slightly away from glass, see RED.

I first aquascaped with rock on the side glass. 5 weeks later had to move everything when the coraline started to cover, and I couldn't get a scraper in there.

good looking eznet, however, the picture is deceiving, there is a 3" gap between the rock and glass, all the way around. no rock is touching glass anywhere
mmmm...but you may verywell be right about the red pile..I might move it in just a little. Thanks!!

Very nice. I took notes on your sump arrangement and how clean everything is. That's my biggest argument with my set ups. It's not clean and simple enough. All messy and not coded!

yep they are XM bulbs..250w 15000k Im not so sure about them yet. Ive heard some bad opinons about them and I may switch to 10k's sooner than later. but I like them for now.

I like XM Bulbs. I use the 20k currently, and I hate them. lol I run T-5's which I've had to turn off becasue they are to "Blue" with the 20k. So I opt to just use the MH. When I get new bulbs I'll be running 10k as well.
