900 Gallon Reef Project

also, on your skimmer, is that going to be an automated neck cleaner. or is that one of the new manual ones that you just spin the lid to clean the neck?

3 of my Reactors are going to be Precision Marine and 1 by Marine Technical Concepts (by far a superior product for 1/2 the price). The skimmer has an automated neck cleaner and a wash for the skimmer cup. It means no skimmer cleaning. Oh and we started filling the tank up today to test for leaks:

I am trying to get better with this camera, I just got a book on how to use it off of Amazon. I will have a video of the flow, which is crazy, shortly. Live rock is in today and we start stacking rock tomorrow and filling with salt water as well.

Benny

Has your builder ever used the marble tile as a substrate in a BB application?
Just like someone might use starboard?
Just curoius, the far a way FTS shots look fantastic BTW!

Benny,
I was looking at the OM you have, and one of the tubes. (the middle one) you have 90's that dump in the tank, but one of them you have glued a nipple in. did that happen by accident, or is there more that will be attached. my other opinion was that it was instaleed to cause more back pressure which will increase the velocity of the water.

what was your reasoning behind that.

question 2,
how long does it take to fill up a 900gal tank!! (what kind of water were you using? tap, or filtered, or NSW?

Nice by the way.

(Your last picture hasnt ever showed up, is that just on my computer or what?)

1. The back pressure needs to be there so the other partner on that OM gets the appropriate water flow as it is much further away with another 90. This way we balanced the flow between those two outputs, before the fix we were getting 1/5th the flow out of one of them.

2. It took 3 hours or so to fill the thing with tap water. We are trucking in some water from a local aquarium tomorrow for the rock scaping.

Here is the flow:

ok, so your OM does 1&3 or 2&4 at one time. i was thinking it was set up to 1,2,3,4 and repeat.
but that makes since.

what kind of rock did you choose? i dont ever remember you mentioning where or what type. and also the rock layout. what you had in mind that is

looks fantastic!!

Just found out that the tile guy that installed the ledge on the tank scratched the hell out of the bottom eighth of the entire tank. We are going to remove the ledge and buff out all the scratches. He was GROUTING THE AREA BETWEEN THE LEDGE AND THE GLASS, when I saw it I asked him if he was out of his mind. He had tape on the ledge and not the glass, a big mistake. I am not a happy person at the moment.

I hope your tile installer is fully insured and bonded. If the scratches do not buff out, I would imagine the front panel of your tank could be replaced.

Will the buffing of the glass weaken the glass?

Bottom line, I feel so sorry for you right now with all the time, effort and monies you've given towards your project.

Best of Luck,
Randy

when you say bottom eighth of the tank, do you mean 1/8 of the whole panel or bottom 1/8 of an inch?

and i totally understand. a new tank shouldn't have gotten fubared by the tile guy.
