900 Gallon Reef Project

and was it scratched from the ledge or from the sand grout?

It was scratched by the tool the guy used, a metal putty knife and the grout. Stupid stupid move, at least the contractor is willing to pay for the buffing. We have to remove the ledge to do it. Scratches everywhere for the bottom 10 inches, its like the guy was having a seizure.

That's just awful about the scratches! Sure hope he can buff that out of the glass.

The water surface flow and sump flow vids are sweet!

in the last two pictures is that the intake strainers for the CL? if so i think you will have problems with them clogging up very quickly. there is just not nearly enough surface area.

i have a similar setup and even a 2"x18" screen intake was not enough.

Jeff has built well over 20 tanks with the same setup and has had no issues with clogging. Did you happen to use dual intakes for each intake location? I will keep that in mind as we move along though, we will be setting up the rockwork with the ability to clean the screens if necessary.

I agree that those little intake screens are terrible. Using two of them per intake certainly improves the situation...but they are still terrible from a surface area POV. I started using one of those screens on my Dart CL, and it was silly how fast it clogged.

I hope they work for you and I agree that you need to ensure the rock work gives you easy access to them.

Shorten the threads on them so they are easier to screw in/out. Have a couple of spares so that you can reach in and remove/replace them easily.

there is an easier method :D

install a "flush out" via a T fitting on the drain line followed by a ball valve, periodically isolate and flush out the screen by providing reverse flow (air or water)

there is also a slightly more complex method of plumbing in a diversion from your pump output so that you can manually isolate each screen for flushing/cleaning

Oh my... I don't know what to say. The stand and everything is just amazing. What about the canopy? Will it be similar to the stand? What's next and when will the last phase take place?
